It seems like some people are still confused about how Novel Updates works, and I figured it'll be best to finally make a thread dedicated to how Novel Updates works since I'm still getting questions about it. It's targeted at new translators that want to get their releases auto approved by Novel Updates. Novel Updates is automated when it comes to grabbing and approving most releases. Novel Updates visits hundreds of RSS feeds from the translators' websites every 20 minutes, but it takes a few minutes to download and process the data. As long as you set your categories and your post title numbering is correct, your releases will be auto approved. If your releases aren't auto approved for whatever reason, they will go into a queue where the moderators will either reject or approve them. Update: NU is currently also grabbing releases via email. I'm a new group, how do I add my group? Add your group - Just fill in your group name and URL. Add the series - Please make sure to fill in as much information as possible. Add the releases - You should at least add the first release to get my attention as all new series needs to get tagged by me before they are auto approved by Novel Updates. How do I make sure my releases will get auto approved? Please tag your posts correctly. For example, let's say you are translating "Peerless Martial God". You should create a category "Peerless Martial God" or "PMG" for your releases. Alternatively, you can also add "PMG" or "Peerless Martial God" to the title of your posts. Example: "PMG Chapter 1", "PMG V1C1", "PMG c1", "Peerless Martial God Volume 1 Chapter 1", "Peerless Martial God Chapter 1 Part 1", etc.. You can either put your releases in a category or add it to your title. You are also free to do both. Just make sure you do at least one of them. Personally, I would prefer if you do both. Remember that Novel Updates is just a bot so please don't do anything fancy with naming your titles. If you want examples on how to name your post titles and categories, please refer to http://www.wuxiaworld.com/ or https://www.blobtranslations.com/ for examples. I submitted a new novel, why isn't it showing? You have to submit a release before it shows up. You can submit a release via this link: https://www.novelupdates.com/add-release/ My releases aren't getting auto approved! The most common reason your releases aren't getting auto approved is because I forgot to tag your novel or you don't have a category set for your releases. Start a conversation with me (@Tony) and I'll help you fix this problem.
I've actually been curious about how automated it was, but I just decided that as long as it works, I wouldn't really question it.
No lol. There's been a lot of groups added this week and lots of questions were asked. It's easier to link them this thread Novel Updates
Sure sure, we are already use to your excuses tony, anyways come up with a better name then that dammit, that's a horrible name for the bot.... name it Bob, Bob the nu bot!
So you are part of the problem of why the lizard kin are taking over nuf. I think we should turn you into food(bait) for them. show your true loyalty. bow down and like his posts and we will use you as bait to lure him out and put an end to him finally
As a lurker, I was curious about something.... How do updates put up by users fit in? I ask because I sometimes put up some wuxiaworld updates if I manage to see it on there but not here....granted, I don't think I did any recently..... EDIT: And by users, I mean the manual updates by user through clicking at their profile.....
soooo... chapters are added by bots huh..... does that mean the bots have the highest rankings on NU? cuz rankings go up if you add new chapters right?
If it doesn't exist in the database, a moderator will approve it. If it already exists, it will be deleted. You are free to keep submitting it since the bot isn't perfect. There's no harm in submitting releases 'just in case'
Shit man, you do a lot of work. Thanks for all the daily work you go through for us leechers and lazy bums!
What? Even though I would like to take credit for it, most of the releases are auto approved by a bot. I'm asking the translators to add at least one release to get my attention. Once I tag a series, it's automated.
lol whatever Tonbot does seem cute but... why would I name it Tonbot?! Do I really have to give the bot a name? Let's call it 'Novel Updates' or 'NU' for short.
nope you're wrong good sir, 'cause if that's true then @Tony will be the number 1 right? well considering @Satan @justabot and other lizardbots... I thought that you'll really name it like tonbot
