Why do you drink alcohol?

For fun.

 

I drink beer for the taste... Don't like wine or wine coolers and all that stuff... I go for variety of beers to get more of a complex taste from it... The hops and other tinges of other ingredients adds to the flavor. It does take some effort to learn to appreciate beer...

If your trying to get into beer... I wouldn't recommend drinking stuff like draft or canned. Budweiser, Miller, and Corona is super watered down... It does taste like piss when warm... The easiest to start off with would be Belgian Ale of some form, stay clear of IPAs of any kind as IPA is not for a beginner... The most common Belgian Ale that I know of is Chimay Blue(midlevel but very common... I can't think why a bar wouldn't stock it)... Its not too bitter(it's actually slightly sweet) and has a great after taste that chases well with quite a lot of things, unlike stuff like common beers, Belgian ale has a very good smell to it... You wouldn't suspect it to be a "beer"... Drink it cold and in a goblet or wide chalice to allow the ale to breath. A really good belgian Ale is the white gold bottle, guldendrak... Not all bars would stock it. Word of caution with guldendrak is do NOT drink it unless your at home or not going to be driving an 30 or 40 minutes later. It has the most delayed effect I've ever seen... It will go down real easy and you would think you can keep going(really don't do it...)... But unlike other beers which take about 5 or 6 minutes for you to feel that tingle, gulden drak will hit you ALL at once 30-50 minutes after you drink the first bottle(empty stomach or not... Tried it either way)... Like walking down the street and just you suddenly get woozy kind of effect... From Belgian I would suggest a stout... Imperial from Samuel Smith not too bitter and will actually remind you of drinking an oatmeal cookie(not the bad kind), or you could go with the Sam Adams imperial, but I think Samuel Smith's one is better. From stout I think you could actually take on dopplebocks, which there are quite a few variations... Spaten dopplebock, sam adams dopplebock... From dopplebock you can probably go into IPAs...

 

You need a button for social drinking.

Now, to be on the topic; Even if I can't drink big quantities of alcohol... I like sweet alcohol, especially liquors.

Same here. The legal age for that here is 21. Even if that was not the case I still would not drink any of it. Perhaps partially because I do not trust my taste buds not to get hooked. I also do not trust that my brain can understand when it is told Warning: do not consume quickly or in large amounts. Side effects may include dizziness, headaches etc.

Social drinking. (I am a working adult, so... yeah...)
Even then I limited myself to only 2 small cups.
After all, I don't want to drunk driving or have alcohol-induced gastritis/liver disease.
I don't really like alcoholic drinks, otherwise... I prefer soymilk instead.

 

I drink beer with friends on events usually (e.g. birthdays, festivals etc.).

Because its a bit fun. When I drink alone, it's often so that I can act a bit stupid without feeling embarassed until later. When I drink with others, its like thechaptermonster said:

It makes it easier to talk, and if everyone around has had a little to drink, its really easy to talk, everyone becomes a little stupid but no one cares, which can be fun.
As for drinking large amounts.... I drank that much because I just wanted to know what it felt like to be absolutely drunk, a few times....
Its not bad, but drinking a smaller amount has more pros vs. cons when compared to heavy drinking. For example, being able to recover more quickly.

 

I need an excuse to beat someone. And being drunk is the excuse.

 

Because it's there.

In fact, I don't love drinking the most; nor I like its taste the most.
But the atmosphere and the drinking friends which only it can create.

10x 0.03l = 0.3l that's not a little or a lot... I can drink about 0.5l and russians 1l+ XD I've seen a dude drink the whole bottle, puke and drink some more
