i don't bother with that......all i need to know is that the meridian is for chanelling the qi, or whatever it is......and spirit root it's for talent.....

I believe meridians is referring to pressure points that are part of the body.
Instead of carrying blood they carry ki or your regional equivalent, and by having open meridians it makes a easy to channel ki.

depends in which novel i guess. most spirit root shows type of attribute is compatible and how fast the cultivation is. single attribute spirit root better, >3 is practically trash.

Spirit roots determine element if I'm not mistaken while better meridians mean fast training speed ...

chaotic lightning cultivation and mistycal something from novelsnao have both of them.
From what i understand, meridians are vital for surviving and cultivation, but spirit roots are important just for cultivators,is some kind of understanding?like you understand math better than spanish or something like that...

Spirit roots are for defining talent in cultivation. They also can help determine what element you would would be good at using, like ice or fire or some such thing. As for meridians, they are for training speed. If you don't have spirit roots, or have crippled spirit roots, you cant sense qi. Therefore you can't channel qi into your meridians at all, since you cant even tell what qi is. Thick, flexible meridians also increase training speed. Which means you would be more powerful than other cultivators of the same level if you have thick meridians and they are more flexible, able to handle more qi.

with spirit roots, if you have a strong affinity with a certain element, you can unlease strong attacks that carry that element. Or you can even have other benefits from what i understand. There must be more things to spirit roots that I dont know about, however. I would say they also help with circulating qi, or refining it, but i cant be sure.

Lets keep it simple by analogy

    Meridians are your veins

    Roots are your blood type.

    Blood is power

Meridians are the paths the qi takes through your body.
The dantian is the place said qi gets stored.
And the spirit roots (if the author wants them to exists) are like the RAM in your computer:
    1. The longer(/more GB) the better
    2. The purer (more specific) the faster you can advance at that cultivation.
    3. If your spirit roots vary you are more suited to become a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none, which is considered as garbage in most xianxia novels

Now: Try cultivating (/running your computer) without spirit roots (/with 256 MB RAM) and you'll notice that the everyday life might still be possible, but cultivation (/playing modern games) will only lead to frustration (/rage quit)

That final analogy makes me think more about a GPU then RAM. With no RAM, you can't really do anything.
