    I think 9 heaven thunder or something setting is the modern world. Never read it so..not really sure.

    Like what Ratatoskr said, Nine Heavenly Thunder Manual takes place in almost current times. It's in a technologically advanced world, but still retains a few wuxia points such as clan influences, cultivation, etc.

    Swallowed Star is set in the modern world and is xianxia. To be more precise, it is set in 2056, so the future.

    thanks for all the recommendations... i have given up on Swallowed Star for no reason that i remember.. Inch of Radiance i haven't tried but will, thanks Amaelzaekil...

    i'll check 9 heavenly thunder and Mai Kitsune Waifu too.. thank you all

    the three novels which I mentioned above have kinda gangster/crime feel to it.. if there is more to recommend please feel free to do so..
