I'm looking through the window at the rain,
Feeling joyous and sad at once.
I'm thinking of things that passed and will pass,
Things that will never come again.

People I've met, places I've been,
They will never be the same.

And neither will I.

Time keeps flowing and people keep going
In their own direction, down their own paths.
There's beauty and sadness in people evolving.

Life's just like that -
Moments so precious are here, then forever gone,
It will be like that for everything,
And also for everyone.

What's gone is precious,
But so is the moment
And what's coming will hopefully too.
Remember the past,
Feel the present
And build the future is what I will do.

I love my life lots, and don't we all?
We love, we accomplish, we are.
Though in the grand scheme of things as a whole, we're just like a small short-lived star.

No matter what choices are made in life,
No matter one's existence's meaning.
This all will pass, and so will I,
This limited human being.

When there's nothing left
To bear witness to
The world's ending's chime,
I'll have been just that:
Someone to appreciate life - once upon a time.
