Hahahhhaa, I mean more, I write to much, I have a hard time "ending" it in a timely fashion. I keep dragging the story out.
But ya, having long time between posts can be another problem.
Easy solution, have an end of the world senario where no matter what they do, the world ends. All that changes is that the either get to enjoy those last moments or get a head start against everyone else.
Online forum RP cannot be as freeform as standard tabletop RP. GM need to direct it to keep the players moving together, or else everyone going different direction and the GM is overwhelmed dealing with a dozen different minor plots instead of one big adventure.
That's why an emergency-state short-medium length RP make the best for online play (in my opinion). Everyone will have to move toward one goal and if you separate you'll most likely die or will rejoin later anyway. I had a zombie apocalypse city escape scenario and a rebellion scenario of this type, it went very quickly and everyone works together for one goal.
That's why I like Play-by-Post sites. Often times, the ENTIRE site itself, is one "Story" and everyone has their own individual Character Story inside the larger one.
My RPs are always at least partially PbP. More fun to read everyone's stuff, less trouble for the GM. Plus it feels like being a part of the story instead of puppetted by the GM.
