Most if not all, read as they translate..
If you go word for word, you have to parse the translation into a sentence that makes sense after you finish all the translation..
It'll be an editor's hell at that point..
I don’t mean literally word for word. I meant do they read the chapter and follow what’s going on as they translate. Or do they translate the words and phrase the sentences so it makes sense. Cos sometimes there’s such obv mistakes that it makes it seem like the translators don’t read the chapters. They just translate them~
I translate a paragraph, and if it doesn’t make sense, i translate the next paragraph for context. Sometimes I’ll discover that something further down connects to something from before and go back to fix it.
I was reading a novel and a character’s gender was wrong. If it was once I’d understand it being a mistranslation. But it was wrong a few times. This made me wonder if the translators actually read what they’re translating. Cos you would know the character’s gender and realise you’ve made a mistake.
