I can’t believe know one told me I was spelling my name wrong.

It happens quite a lot in my native language XD

It happens quite a lot when a written language is not fully standardized or if it has more than one alphabet and script

Lol it’s kinda embarrassing but sure.

So today I went to the bank, to check how much money I had. She was very polite and ask me to spell my name ( 0n paper ). From there, she was confused and having a hard time finding me in the system. Haha when she found it, she looks at me and goes, “so that’s how you spell your name?” Of course I’m likes yessss??????

Well the person we have here is spelt.... “ahhh no that’s not my name” my mom looks over my shoulder and goes, “no that’s ur name.” “Um like what!!!!! I then turn back to the lady and go thats my name. I’ve been spelling it wrong this whole time!

She then goes this is u right? “Yes that’s me haha.

To think I’ve spelt my first name wrong for most of my life without knowing. :(

Man, how did you pass your exams then?

In my native language that is a problem 'cuz we use English for every paper work and when our names are spelt in English people tend to spell them wrong. There are standardized spellings, but some people don't care to follow them.

@TwilightForest I blame myself and the teachers for not correcting me! JK my name was weirdly spelt in the first place, and now it looks even more weird.

Don't worry! It's your name after all. And you know, in my language, too, the spelling often doesn't match the pronunciation XD

Haha I kinda feel silly because I always told people that spelt my name wrong, that it was spelt like this.... Little did I know I was teaching them how to spell it wrong another way.

Just keep spelling it the way you do already and have it legally altered to reflect your wishes )

I go for the cheapest option, but u never now I might. :)
