        but that's not the main role of an Editor, translators doesn't need editors, and what they presently call editors, are just proofreaders

        Not necessarily. A translator might say, “She took my dog.” An editor might see taht and say, “She stole my dog.” Long sentences can be rephrased with more eloquant words and short sentences combined into something more impactful. Just because someone is a translator doesn’t mean thier translation is the best interpretation of the work.
