Also, my slippers had some strings coming off, and I cut them off. Then my cat got a piece. To be honest, I'm not sure if she actually swallowed a piece.

It doesn't need to be a ball of string, really. If they're in a playful mood, you try swinging something like shoelaces in front of them and they'll go crazy trying to capture it

The kitten will just poop it out but if its long maybe when the kitten poops it, it will be stucked on the kittens butt so you have to pull it out~
Our kittens eats the whole plastic(small,tiny with some food leftover inside) inside the trashcan, so it happened a lot to them. Theyre still okay, so i think, you dont need to worry about it.
