A breeze seemed to whisper, "I was happy. You gave me the chance to live, to love. But it's a goodbye now."

With that, the man was left alone.

"ARE YOU DONE PLAYING AROUND?"

A huge presence desended upon the place

It was suffocating, overbearing and majestic

But the man remains unfazed.

"Father, what made you think I was just playing?"

"I KNOW YOU. YOU NEVER TOOK ANYTHING SERIOUSLY."

The man's lips straighted into a thin line.

"I have changed."

A boisterous laughed echoed in the closed space.

It shook the earth and the objects started falling to the floor, breaking.

"NO, YOU HAVE NOT CHANGED AT ALL, SON. BEING HUMAN DID NOTHING TO YOU. HAHAHAHAHA"

The god continued, "YOU COULD HAVE SAVED HER. BUT YOU CHOSE YOUR FLIMSY HUMAN LIFE OVER THE 'LOVE OF YOUR LIFE'"

The man suddenly smirked.

There is a reason why gods could never be perfect

No matter how powerful they are, no matter how long they live, no matter what they do, they would always be flawed

"I find you pitiful, Father. We're all characters in one big story but you, you will never reach the last chapter."

Time and space suddenly froze

The god's presence disappeared

There's only the man in a never-ending white space.

He lied down, eyes wide open, and stared at the white ceiling

He cannot sleep

At least not the way the woman did

Because this time, it is him that took over her duties

He became the one to control the system

But unlike her, he let the humans roam

He only gave his instructions in the form of dreams

And for people to dream, they need to know the darkness of the world

And so, he decided, that he'll show them what it is to know the dark

To be called by the darkness

Ever since then, there would be a time when humans would lose consciousness

They will be submerged in a strange darkness

They will crave it

Love it

Inspired by it

Despair because of it

They get to know the world as he knew it

Dark and out of his control

And in this dark world are little pieces of her in him

Tiny bits of life and colour

That became the world of dreams

That's the reason why humans sleep

When they close their eyes, it's the man's life that they live.
