I wonder if we are talking about the same thing? Flans only need sugar for the caramel/sauce to coat the container and then sauce the flan...you used vanilla instead of sugar?
How to sauce the flan? I caramelized the sugar, for the flan body, I mixed eggs, milk, and sugar (and vanilla extract)
