To decide properly we gotta judge based on certain factors. I think the thiccness isn't as important as the form and proportions, another major factor should be the complimenting attires aside from the leg wear.

(I'm not gonna include the proportions part since it's hard to explain on text)

In a situation where a young lady's wearing a high waist pleated skirt, i personally think that leggings trump over stockings. While if she's only wearing langerei, stockings trump over leggings.

But generally speaking, i think leggings are cuter but stockings are sexier.

i just compared the two pics and i could say i prefer the stockings. Both look nice but the stockings won my heart since leggings is more of a pants than socks. Stockings makes you sexier while leggings makes you more sporty.

In my area, I don’t think leggings are worn much past the age of 11 or 12, except as sportswear, maybe. Stockings are worn with dresses or skirts, and are a must wear for fancier occasions. (Unless you’re wearing a pants suit, and even then you might wear stockings or tights underneath.)

Stockings rip more easily (and I easily lose them) BUT they are sexy, Leggings on the other hand, provide more functionality, you can wear them as pants, workout wear, and they provide more warmth than a stocking (unless we're talking about extra thick stockings for winter), also they shape the legs nicely. Overall, I'd say leggings FTW.

@pass1478 Leggings and tights are different things, though? Leggings are a type of pants. Tights are like stockings, only thicker, made of a different material, and comes in colors, usually black.

Maybe I’m the one who’s wrong. That’s how I was taught, though. Looking up “stockings” and “tights,” the internet treats them as interchangeable...?

I have a basic brain. If the thin and skin-tight fabric doesn't go past the thighs, then they're stockings. If they do, then they're either tights or leggings.

Though, as a well-learned internet scholar, i'm basing this off the fetish etymology. And from my findings, there's a difference between "stockings" fetish and "tights" fetish.

Also, as to why I placed "leggings/tights" it's cause the only major difference is the thickness of the fabric. Also because my previous unedited post said "stockings or leggings" and I changed it cause I confused leggings for tights. And since people already commented, I didn't really want to make that big of a difference to avoid changing and/or removing the context.
