If you chose the former, I'd have argued that the latter at least gives the chance for both to live, choosing the former would mean resignation and lack of hope and courage for the overall situation.
Either choice is resignation. Pancreatic cancer has a high mortality rate. Not to mention painful. To subject someone close to you to something like that in exchange for your own life is hypocrisy.
"has a high mortality rate", yes, but is it definite? No. Not to mention surgery, chemotherapy, and other methods of increasing the survival percentage are viable. The former is definite death, 100%, anything you'd do is meaningless. The latter has a chance, far from definite.
I don't even care about death, I care about time. I took the second choice not because the second one isn't definite but because that way I let the both of us have time. Honestly, if you didn't put "tomorrow" I'd choose the former.
