A group of lost vegetables found an empty/abandoned bun and moved in. Then, over time, as they slowly became cooked by the natural head of the bun, they became the current vegetable buns we know and nom today.
Well, if you think about, some vegetables grow in tight enclosed spaces, carrots are surrounds by dirt, peas come in pods, and corn is wrapped in leaves. That is very similar to how some crustaceans live.
