Most hate them because they were one of the very first to start stealing other people's work. Simultaneously, you might think that there is a lot of choice in which site that you read from but mangafox owns quite a few websites which do the exact same thing but under a different URL. You may not support them and therefore not use their main website but unknowingly use one of their subsidiary websites.

Batoto is the only one that I know of which is approved by scanlator.

The guy who owns Mangafox has a huge amount of websites that host Manga. For example his main website might not post licensed series but other websites that he owns well.

They earn from other people's work. They didn't even share the income they derive from the advertisement to the concerned scanlators and mangakas.

That was a terrible time. Reading manga one pages at a time? Blargh.

Mangafox is the most visible online manga aggregator. That in itself is not the main issue, but a lot of scanlators are discovering Mangafox is making lots of money from ad revenue.

Basically, Mangafox and other aggregators are profiting off of some else's free work.

Batoto usually gets a pass because it's actually ran by people that don't add watermarks, remove credits (they actually very clearly display the scanlator group name and even link to them) or compress images. They also respect take down and no upload requests from scanlators. And for a brief while, they used to have a revenue sharing program with scanlators until it got stopped by some company (the advertising networks?).

I don't know which specific sites are owned by who but I do know that pretty much every website you will read from is stealing from the translators.

Imagine this, novel updates doesn't link to novels anymore. They simply copy and paste other translators work onto their website. That is the business model of most of those manga sites.

How would it feel if all your hard work was literally making money for others? Not to mention, Mangafox doesn't even give the scanlation groups the recognition they deserve.

It's like being told; I'm screwing your wife, and not only is she paying me, she's taking all your money that you worked hard to make, and giving it to me.

Honestly, all sites that host the group's projects are stealing, (except Batoto.) It's just Mangafox is the one giving the biggest middle finger.

Umu I heard that before Mangahen, Mangafox or other manga sites are known today, there is only one good source of manga that can be read. The site is called onemanga I think and I heard it is now closed...?

I think it's funny you brought that up because that's literally what the scanlating community does to the original author.

Moving on, I think as a consumer mangafox should be disliked because they compress images and add a large watermark. Even without focusing on them stealing everybody's work, they still provide a shitty service compared to batoto or kissmanga.
