Someone else already recommended it but it was in a massive list so ... Cross Game. I never did finish the anime, but there probably isn't that much difference between the two.
The anime leaves some scenes out, but everything in it is almost scene for scene identical to Adachi's manga. It's the single truest adaptation of of a manga or novel to anime or live action I've ever seen.
Eh, I'm late to the convo, but more anime never hurts ^^. Akagi, doesn't have any fanservice and at any point you pause you either have dudes playing mahjong, or dudes talking to each other, and in the later scenes some needles and blood, nothing sexy. It's engaging on a psychological level, even if you don't care to learn mahjong. Natsume Yuujinchou, really tame, interesting and slow-paced. Otogi Zoushi, no fanservice. Up to your tastes whether you find the story appealing. Hikaru no Go, people playing Go, lol. No fanservice, no crude jokes. Interesting if you're into this type of genre (sports, kinda). Lots of people here seem to rec their favorites, haha. I'd also like to gush about One Outs for example (it's freaking AMAZING), but people seem to forget about the panty-less loli in the latter episodes... That's bound to get a few looks if OP pauses at an inopportune time.
Well depends on what people around you consider normal , Cowboyb bepop (first anime comes to mind when thinking about most western anime) , Trigun (i think there wasn't any wierd part's) Well there's is tons of anime i know "kind of normal" but if you live around people who will look for something to pick on , i think 99% of anime are out of question because there will be scene or time , where "anime haters" gonna get chance to bash it , even if its once in 50 episodes ,
This my sound rude and I'm going to say it anyway, what is the point in showing people anime if they are so easily offended, that their first reaction is something along the lines of disgust and you should see a psychiatrist. Do these people have the same reaction to your other hobbies or do they try to push their interests onto you?
If i get it right, you want something that have no pervertness and can destroy prejudice. So people with close mind open their mids a little... To be honest if it would be me: Death Note and other smart Animes; but i don´t know if they like deductions and stuf. You can´t put gore either? i have an anime that is like a movie, is short, but cool, make you wonder about the way of lives of humans. You can always put a old anime on the line, since is retro it can be efective in alot of ways, let me see: Escaflown (good for boys) This have a movie adapting anime. Candy Candy (good for girls and little boys) Maison Ikkoku (I still like this one) Kimagure orange Road (This one still have fans, but if people can read between lines they can acccept it... or not). The movies are super shocking. You are going to be sad, cry and other stuf. Now and Then, Here and There (Scy-Fy, apocalyptic future). I guess rape is there, but you can´t see it. Dragon Quest (But don´t expect an end in anime) Toppa Gurren? Angelic Layer (This one is cool and Funny) Fate saga (the animes or the movie, you choose) Detective Conan Movies (i suggest 1,4,5,6 or 9) Batman Movie style anime is not good? Marvel had those too. Those are all the angles for normal people i guess. I hope it can help.
