I remember watching this Chinese drama when I was a kid about a Chinese jumping vampire who fell in love with this chick. He looks like a typical vampire with the Song/Qing (?) dynasty robes and he started out early in the series with the paper seal on his hat/head but then he got really strong that it didn't work and no priest could control him. I'm not sure if he was the protagonist in this. I think he was actually the bad guy. The setting was ancient China and it was not a movie, so it's not "My Date With a Vampire."
Usually Jiangshi are reanimated corpse without a conscious, so I don't remember any stories with one that has a conscious as it would stick out like a sore thumb amongs all the one I watched and I don't remember any
Hmm, when I heard 90s movie, Chinese, and vampire, I got reminded of Boboho (Hao ShaoWen)'s movie... I remember one scene where the vampire hesitate to attack the protagonist when they play a song from the girl, but I'm not sure if the girl is the love interest or the vampire's sister.
