Since Father's day is almost upon us in the States. I was reminded of the chapter in ISSTH's A Father is like a Mountain. That part of the story struck my emotional trigger, and I thought of an old poetry game I played in school where you ascribed an image or a feeling to something that you normally wouldn't, such as 'a star tastes like cheese cake' or 'blue sounds like rain falling on a tin roof.' So I thought, in honor of dad's everywhere, We could do something similar by describing what the concept of father is like to each of us for fun. What does the word Father look like? Sound like? Feel like? Smell like? or even taste like. (this might get weird for some.) you can write your descriptions in any order that pleases you. Father Feels like a rough woolen blanket, heavy, scratchy, and firm. Smells like wood-chips and hay strewn across a barn floor Sounds like stones falling from the bucket of a diesel backhoe Tastes like coffee and wood smoked bacon cooked over a camp-fire Looks like the constellation Orion in the summer-night sky, that always watched me, and led me home.
Father feels like a void too far out to reach Smells like tobacco smoked from Marlboro lights Sounds carefree and aloof yet carries a mystifying burden Looks like I would in 30+ years Left the taste part out since that was too weird for me but yeah if you don't like it, my teacher in school always said I was better at math then poetry.. Did my best though
He feels human He smells like a guy He sounds like he can speak english He tastes like whatever people taste like nowadays He looks like my dad
Father Feels like a massive and sturdy tree. Smells like the sweat ththat came from hardwork. Sounds ever so assuring, giving one a sense of security. Looks so tired, but is doing his best nonetheless. Yeah the taste is weird...
Feels like a cranky boy Smells like hot chili peppers Sounds like a cold blade Looks like a domesticated tiger Make of this as you will
Hey it doesn't matter whether anyone likes it or not, its written from your perspective. Its your own idea of Father. I couldn't criticize that even if you wrote something unpleasant. Glad you did your best.
Father looks lile a giant; insurmountable, untoppable Looks huge but gradually shrinks to our size --- This is the limit of my creativity
father, why did you have to be mean to me father, why did you leave me father, i still hate you u wasteman p.s. dw stepdad, i love u
Father; Feels like a phantom limb, though you don't have an arm you know there should be one. Smells like carbon monoxide, though you know it exists, you can't find it. Sounds like a vacuum, for is has no sound. Tastes like cyanide, though you know it's there, you can't taste it. Looks like a ghost, though they exist, you can't see them. This is for all of those who's fathers left at a young age, though you know they exist, they aren't there.
Wears a black helm mask Wears life supporting armor Can control the force A prodigy Have red glowing swords Command white troopers Goes dere2 with his long lost son
clever, a bit amusing, and also sad. But I can see how for a lot of people this concept of father can be all too true.
Father Feels like the midnight rain Smells like the air after a drizzle Sounds like the rain on the rooftop Tastes like the water Looks like a cloudy sky Sometimes he was cold but sometimes he is just what you need.. His voice calmed you down.. You can't see through his thought.. But you can hold on to his love for you.. Rest in peace my father.. 11 years without you feels so short yet so long.. I didn't get to experience much of your love.. But it was enough for me to hold you dear in my heart..
A father is a teacher and a guide, he shows you life and how to interact in it, he teaches how men and women act together, he challeges you and also sets boundaries.
Father... Feels like a very stern man Smells really good, got a great sense in perfume Sounds so strict, but sometimes loving Looks so big, but sometimes weak I know I've done things I shouldn't have I said Im sorry but it wasn't enough I'll always be your loving child Even though I'm sometimes hard headed Just guide me, that's all I ask Just watch me, that's all I want Just hug me, it's more than enough Pat my head and praise me Because I'm still your little girl deep inside I may grow old and live far away from you But I'll forever be your little girl Don't worry of the past, Ive already decided To move on and forget about it... I love you papa... Happy Father's day~!
A father is a gentle stream, calm and steady A giant tree, sheltering leviathan and tiny birds His protection a drawn bow, fierce and ready A father's love is a will of unsaid words
Father is like my dad, the man who makes I know when I'm being a freeloading dick(not his words) and makes me do what has to be done, in other words a great person I'll never hate(the opposite is too sappy)
