    Just a random thought. How about having compatibility of reading lists. That way you could check of the person that wrote the review has same taste as you.

    I'd support this as personally I'm find as too much of a bother to write a review and just rate the novel instead. If this can be incorporated with the compatibility system I mentioned above, it could work really well.

    I've long wanted suggestions based on users with 'similar' reading lists, but was too scared to propose it.

    So much work, wouldn't they just ban me? :p

    I feel like this is too complicated. Maybe some reviewers arent as critical of the story. Maybe just have those choices as an option?

    We already gave suggestions, just have the choices as options as a scaffolding of sorts for your review of you want them.

    What's exactly wrong with the current system? (Besides review sorting, I guess.) And what do you want from the reviews?

    Because most of the solutions I see being proposed so far don't really address the issue, which is the reviews themselves being unhelpful? Do you guys honestly prefer long-winded reviews?

    P.S. I am biased and I don't read any reviews longer than a paragraph or two at best as I prefer conciseness.

    I personally dislike the idea of having "n users found this review helpful" or any kind of popularity review as it would just be dependent on the fans of the book anyways. Any negative or controversial review will be piled to the bottom because of this function.

    Yeah... The non members.... That's the headache. They are the noobs that give silly 5/5 or 1/5 reviews and ratings. They can utilize the new system of ratings and reviews, with time they'll expand the scope of novels they read and have no other choice than to become members and have a reading list.

    Leaving a review (even a short one) with the possibility of rating as follow should be plentyfull for people a bit more demanding like i am
    x/10 Story development
    x/10 Character development
    x/10 Universe depth
    x/10 Overall impression

    As for the lazy ones, rating /10 with half stars shouldnt be any more bothersome that it actually is and still be four times more accurate.

    Going any further might be confusing and counterproducting.
