    I'm not sure which novel it might have been - I think it might have been Coiling Dragon, but it also might have not been.

    Basically, it's set in medieval times, in the king's court, and the mc is some sort of new nobility and politics naturally occur. The mc has a rival who is very cunning but is ultimately manipulated into messing up and all of his schemes are made known to the King.

    It's funny because the author writes a sound effect "BANG!" and the man is kneeling, pleading with the King. I found it very funny at the time.

    I think it was the time when Linley (if this is CD) became a rank(?) 9 magus and fighter(?). He went to the place where his little brother was at and he was introducing himself(?) to the king of that specific country.

    So vague to me, can barely remember it. Been so long after all.

    well, there is such a scene in CD, when Alice asks MC for help to rescue her husband.

    Alice's husband's family is the one that is begging.

    Alice's family is not royalty though.

    Now that I think about it, it might be after Linley conquered that certain place in th desert.

    Alice's family (Debs clan) is nobility and were involved in smuggling. This was exposed to the king. The clan begs the king at this time.

    ITS NOT CD......the only time the mc was a noblity, he was planning his revenge against the king and he NEVER went to any palace
    and...when he was helping his bother, he didn't have any nobility

    Well I didn't quite catch the whole Linley being the nobility, just the royal part. Again my memory is quite vague.

    NP :) I also almost thought this is not CD ;) .. There are many such similar scenes though MC is not always new nobility.
