If you go to *aggregator removed* (beware of NSFW ads, even with ad blocker), a BL only site, and click on the incest tag, 99 pages come up. So... yeah. And that’s only manga (and its Korean and Chinese counterparts), webcomics, and doujinshi. If you go over to AO3 and look at say, the Supernatural fandom, you’ll find that Dean and Sam together is the second most popular pairing behind Dean and Castiel. So, yeah.
@Femme Fatale if you're really interested there's a wonderfully written yaoi named Brother. As the name suggests, it's incest. I read only Book one, though. https://www.novelupdates.com/series/brother/
Thanks guys, this is interesting and I may have a look at it sometimes. I am not really interested in Yaoi... but maybe now I've found a reason to have a look. ^.^
Brother, at least in the first book, is written so beautifully, and there's no yaoi in the first part. Worth reading, I guess.
No doubt. I want to be in the right frame for mind to read it. Mst of the time I read nowadays for information or fun. ^.^ To read a new genre and actually think requires more than I'm willing to give a novel these days. ^.^
You're going to ignore the incest part here? If so, then what's stopping them from consenting to each other's love?
Ta Ai-chan. I started watching Supernatural, but the plot and scripting became a bit too amateurish for me....so I stopped. I guess I didn't get to that part. :/ Thanks. Did you not read the other responses before answering, pseudo-disciple?
Many anthropologists have written about strong taboos against incest. We, as humans, our cultures have strong incest taboos. This (according to the anthropologists) is because our hunter-gatherer ancestors saw first hand the results of incest. This followed an extension to homosexual incest. Add in the Roman Catholic Church’s proscription against incest and homosexuality,
*bemused* I know you aren't my disciple, it's why you are my pseudo-disciple. Fu Fu Fu I think you protest too hard. And you are right, you don't have to read anyone elses' response. It just means that I'll have to point you in the right direction so........ as not to repeat myself.... A question about Yaoi
Personally speaking, I don't think incestuous in gay relationship no longer relevant. The key reason why incest is forbidden, It's because their kid would be disabled mentally or physically. Since gay relationship won't produce a kid anyway, Incest is practically no longer a problem. If you see things morally, then no matter you're gay or not, anything incest is forbidden. Everyone, including the gay community, would dislike what you did. That's just how severe the society view incest.
Thank you for your answer. That was the kind of stuff I was grappling with. Not with homosexuality, but with yaoi genre...so from a fantasy point of view. What we read influences how we think and vice versa. I didn't want my hetero/polyandrous idiosyncrasies to influence my thoughts...I wanted to understand what the norm was for the genre.
So, it's strictly fantasy, isn't it? Then, I think it's fine as long as no one knows about it That's why people would go VPN and Incognito when they read something sexually sensitive. I mean, Guro, Vore, Rape, Cheating, NTR, etc exist and lot of people likes it. So, your preference is actually considered as 'normal' in that kind of community.
Anything can turn around in yaoi if a character so much as looks at the other. People can also ship characters similar enough in ideology despite both of them living on two different ends of the world. If it's okay though...that's completely subjective. In my opinion, everything should be allowed in fiction.
That's a dangerous argument to make when fiction imitates life and influences both fiction and life me thinks~ Fascinating, but dangerous. ^.^
It depends who's reading, at least those are my beliefs. I completely disassociate fiction from reality and I understand there are people who don't. And as long as fair warning's given, it's not like anyone's being forced to read something they're not okay with. Sure, books and stories can be blamed when some people do questionable things, but if a book could make them do something bad, anything could. I understand what you mean though.
