    No need for something so complex. Just do the same thing the Spirit Stream Sect is doing with Bai Xiaochun's current status. During the period of the trials, say she's going into reclusion and throw all the work to her 2nd in command while she goes compete for the Earthstring Energy.

    But she didn't say she was in seclusion. as far as everyone in the city was concerned she was working as usual.

    Furthermore, this only addresses the least puzzling aspect of how she could go there. (incidentally her spying was a huge failure if she voluntarily took such missions far from the sect)

    It doesn't explain why, after she finished her foundation establishment breakthrough, she ignored her father's request to return to stay in the city of a few more days... has not heard about bai being the heavenstring cultivator, and then was just there to meet the MC after he comes out and then and only then decide to return to her sect as her father commanded... while also somehow convincing her father's loyal followers to ignore the sect decree and protect bai instead of killing him.

    I honestly had assumed she came from a great sect instead of a piddling blood sect. Or maybe she is like the MC and trying to steal the immortality artifact from blood sect

    Just wanted to through out an idea. She was wearing a mask while inside the blood stream sect. Therefore she is undercover for some reason while inside the blood stream sect. So most likely she and possibly her father are undercover inside the sect (what kinda of father cant recognize his own daughter).

    Yes, maybe she is like the original fake nightcrypt, working for a far away sect to acquire the middle peak artifact

    You guys have to remember that the Du Lingfei that BXC knew was using a fake body. She is pretty much a ghost. What do ghosts do? They possess people. Boo could be anyone, or have many bodies.

    a sect that rewards him for every mess-up vs a sect that punishes him (and fails to) for every mess up
    if the war wasn't happening, I could imagine him sneaking in between sects every time something goes wrong.

    Little Sis Ghost Lady is waiting for him :sweating_profusely: I wonder what she wants from her. She technically has a body now so would the last pill even help her anymore?

    :blobunsure: when fighting with the blood stream sect, he can suppress their cultivation so will it be a one-sided slaughter or will he pursue peace? two of his waifu's are on the line (3 if you count Xiaomei) plus he's technically the Song Patriarch's stepson so filial piety. The smart thing would be to unite and then smash profound stream and pill stream and split the top spot.

    :hmm: could her goal be to obtain a real body? Plus (knowing how xianxia works) I expect her to become a member of his harem, so it'd be kind of weird of they ever have sex with basically a meat suit.

    I read up to 855 and BXC just forgets about it. It's just one of those things he forgets 1 chapter it is introduced in.

    about du lingfei and those quarreling about her
    she's not du xuemei, and iirc, MC hasn't met her yet in the raws. but around chapter 400+ish, he meets her again and she tells him she's from far beyond the heavenspan river and her cultivation is past immortal. as usual, er gen doesn't know how to write romance so she's like 'GO AWAY AND LIVE A HAPPY LIFE MC CUS U WILL DIE' but MC is like 'IM COMING FOR YOU'. there also was a chapter when mc was in the blood sect where limitless and xuemei talked to him about a 'mysterious person' who they both met and that MC must have met her too. i am not sure if the tl skipped this or if this happens in a later part of the story, explaining that xuemei is not lingfei
