So apparently, Chinese piracy subbing/scanlation groups are boycotting Japanese creators who support Hong Kong protests.
And now, some Japanese mangakas intentionally tweeted or RTing support to Hong Kong.
This is the most amusing news I've read in a while.
    What do you guys think?

So basically they won't pirate the mangaka's works anymore.

    Be japanese mangaka/anime creator.
Find out your works are being pirated illegally by Chinese groups.
Tweet support to Hong Kong protests.
They stop piracy on your works.

Ahahahha it's a good move since they're hitting two birds with one stone I guess? Warding off Chinese piracy groups from leeching off their work since these groups don't want to get involved in the muddy waters of the motherland as well as supporting a human right movement. I see it as a win for them??:blob_plusone:

I believe those Japanese creators are not necessarily actually supporting the Hong Kong protests. I'm guessing they don't actually care that much about it. But if it stops their works from getting pirated, well then...

Its a no-lose situation for the Japanese mangakas.

Which reminds me of the "tricks" Japanese do when they get spammed by Chinese spammers, and then they go type things like Tiannamen Square, some numbers etc (has no relations to whatever that's happening in Hong Kong) and that became a meme for a while.

Kind of funny how we are talking about piracy like that when this has many links to fan translations. Outside of permission from the publisher/creator and/or fair use, fan translations are piracy.

Look, I freq. fan translation sites, sure. However, at least I give back to the community a little b subscribing to sites like Crunchyroll and Funimation.

Yes. I'm just thinking that it's ridiculous for those chinese piracy group to show their anger towards the Japanese creators by stopping to pirate their works. Like, what?

I guess the Japanese mangaka didn’t lose any, they are more glad that their work doesn’t get pirated.
