Discussion about the look of main character

why in visual novels or any dating sims the main character have to be handsome ? isn't that like saying you only get attention or chance if you are handsome ? well i am saying that after playing all personas 2,3,4,5 and all have that n common and maybe in others but i don't remember other than shirou emiya does he stand to handsome ?

 

Maybe you've been playing the wrong games, because games got tags as well, the 'ugly bastard' tag is a very famous and many likes playing games with such tags

 

nope ugly bastard annoys me i am not bragging but from what i get from my classmates i have a serious face always by default and good looking with formal clothes i dont like to play as an ugly bastard but there isn't a game that have average i believe ?

 

Well, depending on your definition for normal, all dating sim games might not contain a normal looking one, I don't know many but I shall try suggesting some (heard or seen those games somewhere)

Because those games in a sense - wish fullfillment. People want to be handsome and date beautiful girls. People love handsome guys and beautiful girls.

Regarding ugly bastards...Well that's more of a fetish. Just like people loving fat women etc.

 

yeah seems to be the case i don't know all that much but i played fate and zodic axis and void and delz and clannad and angel beats and persona i don't remember the rest but all seems normal except persona i liked persona because it have a good story and gameplay in jrpg that's all you know what i was surprised in persona 3 when i max social links they stay falling in love which opened my eyes to persona true tag the dating sim tag

Well, I personally love P3P. It’s one of my favorite games but it does gather a lot of criticism about the SLs with the opposite gender being all romantic routes. Though from what I remember, the characters don’t fall immediately in love with the MC because of looks but mostly through the struggles in the storyline and deepening of the relationship...
Anyway, in the female MC version, there’s Junpei’s SL that is not romantic so...

 

Well, good looking / handsome / muscular guys do really well irl.
In college those guys get much more attention than normies. Ugly bastards are female repellents so they get attention in a bad way.

Who would want to play an ugly bastard character unless its a fucking netorare hentai.

 

i know but for me i play those for story not for dating irl i am good already i just don't see the need to that if you just took care of your appearance then you are good to go i have one of my friends who isn't good looking but is damn optimistic so much that i cringe he is so damn funny too well persona is just an example that's all i dont mean it bad but i hate it when in persona 3 all routes are love routes like wtf in the end he turns to a door

 

Depends, many vn also depict their main character as average looking.
