Discussion about why NU does not drop QI, but QI may drop NU

first of all, NU is a great site, it ...., I ..., they ... (omit a few paragraph)

1. according to Alexa, relating to NU, webnovel.com is top 5 upstream site and top 5 related site

2. according to NU's own index, updates submit by QI makes about 1/3 or 1/4 of total submit,

we know r/noveltranslations has banned QI, but reddit is a free service, dropping QI does not cost people behind r/noveltranslations anything, but on the hand while NU at current stage definitely is no longer a hobby project

then, lets talk about the possibility of QI drop NU,

currently QI benefit a lot from NU, because by placing QI's novel and WW/volare's novel together, NU give QI's best customer they want, i.e. WW/volare reader. because WW or QI offer the same service, QI only need to out-spend WW/volare, which is easy

But there is a limit for number of WW/volare reader can be converted. when there is no more WW/volare reader to be converted, QI need find new reader from elsewhere like gamer, or comic books reader, tv/movie viewer. Converting them is much more expensive, but then NU will harm QI, because these expensive new viewer can be easily convert to WW/volare's reader through NU.

For QI, they will has no option but to drop NU when that happens

IMO it would be stupid for QI to drop NU. Readers progress through novels and constantly discover new things they like. A year ago I didn't enjoy Chinese novels at all, but now they take up more than half my library.

 

Others can just list QI novels on NU tho.
And if NU uses an aggregator to check for releases, they can do it themselves easily.

 

does NU even need a permit to link Qi novel ? I don't think so.

i don't think QI will drop NU since new reader for CN novel mostly stick to NU
not to mention that most reader found novels from forum to forum and NUF is one of the biggest forum for asian novels

QI isn't affiliated with NU, so there's no "dropping" NU.

NU is an indexing site. If people want to be listed, they can list themselves. As much as I dislike QI's way of doing business, I'd be upset if NU actually started blocking certain sites from being listed, so I'm glad they haven't.

I'm also glad they came out with a way for me to block any updates from QI.

 

What do you mean by 'converted reader'? It is not goddamn organization. I see a novel I like, I go reading. It doesnt matter for me which site did the job (but I will surely give my gratitude to translator). I dont know anything about volare/ww/qi warfare and I dont care to know it. This is my personal selfish point of view. But I have a feeling that the majority of people here thinks the same.
