At higher levels, the formations are supported by formation flags and other tools that allow for less reliance on the terrain for temporary formations, or use the flags to greatly reinforce the locale. And at even higher levels, the worlds inside the formations might as well be separate realities.

That said, if the power difference is great enough, cultivators can and will blast their way out of formations.

 

Indeed. Destruction of Formations typically requires locating and deliberately targeting its spell seals, "formation flags", or such, which are reinforced against incidental damage.

The MC is practically guaranteed a harem. Any major female character that expresses a strong romantic interest in him, and that he doesn't dislike, is likely to wind up in that harem. This would include the girl with the ice powers, his fiance, his teammate, and probably several more that I'm not remembering at the moment.
