Adding a New Source Language

Hello guys!

First of all, I don't know where to post this thread, so I'm posting it here. Please move it to the appropriate forum if it doesn't belong here.

As the title suggests, I want to add a new Urdu series, but the language is not supported in "Add Series". I'm still stockpiling chapters, but I wanted to clear this up in advance.

If it's an Asian novel, pm a mod (of NU, not NUF), if it's not, chances are you can't post it on NU.

i regret to bring the bad news, but Novel Updates no longer accepts novels from outside east/south-east Asia for quite some time.

 

That's a bummer. I thought all Asian countries were included.

They are not supported by NU.

 

You're asking where is this "Urdu series" like you're asking where is this "English series", "Japan series", and so on.

Have you uploaded it into your website? Even if NU allows your series, it needs an existing website to show as a link.

 

Why not support series from other than East or S-E Asia?

 

you'd have to ask @Tony for the official answer. my view is that this is a site started and made to be a link clearing house for big 3 language novel translations.

consider this though: of the 6 other languages currently listed on NU (besides the big three of JP, CN and KR), there is only about 100 novels listed between them. Of those, only 10 have been updated at any time this year. of those 10, only 5 have been updated since june.

of the about 100 novels, a large portion are either BL, tragedy or shoujo-style novels. a quick peek at some of the novels and their statistics indicates that their readership (by metric of reading lists) is quite small relative to the general standard on NU. Add on the likely scarcity of translators and, honestly, adding more languages would seem kinda pointless for NU.

Nothing stopping you still doing translations and posting them on a site but i doubt you'd be able to get them listed on NU itself, bar perhaps you having a link in your forum sig.

 

I'm still stockpiling chapters. It's a published series, and the raws are not in text format. Instead, they are scanned images.

 

Even if the language was added, the series wouldn't be approved until you posted at least one release translated into English, free for anybody to read.

 

Which genre is it? It sounds somewhat mystifying as the name reminds of Uruk.

 

Urdu is not the series name. It's a language. I haven't told the series name in this thread.
