John had no idea where he was. Well, he had sort of an idea, but it was extremely unlikely. He had been abducted by a monster! Some sort of magic doors opened up and brought him to this dark and depressing location! He had never been a part of anything truly taxing since he always got his soldiers to do everything. He just had to sit back and watch his father lord over the country side!

However, his father regretted not having a more athletic son. Thankfully, he showed true ability when thinking. John never lost a game of Chess before and he doubt he ever would. Unfortunately, when a King is alone, he has nothing to do but wait for death.

He had gone to the coast to see the sights. The carriage must have passed to close to the Eastern Forest where many monsters call home. He always wondered why those stuck up Adventurers never just burned down the forest to make way for more farmland. Wasn’t that more profitable?

Well, either way, he only had a small contingency of about 10 men. They were all rather diverse in abilities, but that was to be expected of his personal entourage. However, there was no sign of any of them right now. He found himself in a room, if that was what it represented. There were three pathways and not one looked inviting to him.

On the right there was a loud buzzing. Of course, it could be anything, but John immediately thought of flying insects. And dangerous creatures are not something he could fight by himself.

He decided to instead look at the other two paths.

One was covered in a startlingly red colored mass of vegetation. Definitely a sign of something there. Of course, the color wasn’t all that inviting either. That only left the path on his left.

He knew he would have to move if he wanted to survive. Maybe there was a way out! John eventually came across a room with a small chest in the middle. Was this a chance?! Maybe there was a Return Stone! He rushed up to the chest to discover a couple small glass jars filled with multicolored fluid.

“Potions? Well, they look pretty cheap. I guess they’re better than nothing.”

John placed the red and blue jars into his bag. He still had all of his equipment so that meant he still had the fancy sabre and dazzling armor. They were both light which meant little defense, but they gave John a sense of security. As a noble, he had some training in self-defense, even though he wasn’t good at it.

After finding the Potions, John felt a little better. He wasn’t in too much danger and carried himself with pride. However, when he saw the path he came from, he was astonished. It was covered by threatening Demon Vines! Of course, he had no idea what they were. He had no information on such creatures ever before!

He looked around to discover three more paths. Two were covered in red, just like the middle path from before. No, now that he thought of it, the one on the right and the middle path from before must be connected! What would be the point of backtracking?! What if he had to go to the path on the right afterwards?! What a waste!

So John instead chose the one of the other paths, one that had sounds of buzzing.

He steeled himself since he knew he was approaching danger. It wasn’t long until John saw the room. There were five little buzzing Beetles flying in the air. They didn’t seem to have any sort of purpose, they just flew around. However, when he set foot into the room, the five bugs instantly locked onto him. They were small but deadly.

They quickly charged over and attacked John who barely had enough time to dodge. He pulled out not his sword, but a small stick fashioned to a sizable length. What size? Well, longer than a normal human hand, at least.

John flicked the wand and muttered something under his breath. Suddenly, the wind picked up and sliced towards one of the Beetles.

Seeing the big bug become split down the middle was oddly satisfying, though gruesome. The guts flew in the air and disrupted the two nearby Beetles. However, the other two relentlessly continued their chase. One smacked into his thin metal armor and dented it, bouncing off and becoming dazed.

Seeing the chance, John stepped down and squashed it. However, he ended up cutting through his shoes and tearing his feet up. And the blood wouldn’t stop!

In a confused riot, the Beetles went berserk. They flew at John and cut up his arms and legs while he tried to settle down. He pulled out his sword and swung it a few times. Unfortunately, he wasn’t warmed up quite yet. He missed several times.

    John has taken damage!

Thankfully, the bugs separated from him and gave him space to breathe. He took out the red Potion and chugged it. His bleeding wounds instantly closed, but that was it. The Healing Potion was partly made with magical blood, but the magic went entirely to stopping the Bleeding Status.

    John is no longer damaged!

After catching his breath, John thought about his situation. The bugs weren’t strong, he had already taken out two of them. Only three remained. If a hit connects, it will undoubtedly kill the Beetles. So what kind of attack could he use to kill them? If he tried to use magic, he would be defenseless while he chanted!

Or…maybe he could try what he learned from his trainer.

Dual wielding. The art of using two weapons at once. Several special Classes were Spellsword, Magic Swordsman, Arcane Blade, and many others. If he could put it to use here, maybe he could actually prove to be really good!

It took a lot of effort to use the already light sword in one hand, but even more to focus on using magic. However, the Beetles remained wary due to the sword. This gave John the time he needed to cast a simple Wind Blade. After killing the first Beetle, he rushed towards another that was farther away and went to cut it down. The Beetles were always slow to react and that meant another bug life lost.

This was it! This was what it meant to be an Adventurer, right?! This was amazing! The thrill, the rewards, the possibilities! What a wonder he hadn’t tried to do this before! Why did he need those guards in the first place?

He set his attention on the last Beetle and easily killed it with a slash of his blade. Feeling confident, John continued down the only path that remained before him. He wasn’t scared. He had this.

He finally came to a room that had a familiar set of double Doors. After gazing at the sight and realizing that he was about to reach the end, John actually had a promising expression on his face. He strode over to the Doors and pushed on them. The Doors swung open to reveal a sight he was quite used to.

No, the room wasn’t quite as decorated as the castles he had already visited. There were no golden ornaments or exaggerated paintings. This room had a separate purpose as a BOSS room.

John could see the five small Beetles and the one big one. It didn’t take a genius to understand his predicament. John readied his weapons and sent a Wind Blade before charging in. The Beetles were caught off guard and one died. Another was cut down before the other small ones flew away.

The BOSS, however, charged right at John. He swept his sword to block, but a terrifying sound emanated from the clash.

His sabre broke! How?! Yes, it was more for decorative purposes, but surely this Beetle wasn’t that strong, right?! Without a physical weapon, John began to flounder again before realizing he still had magic. He sent a blade at the BOSS, but it evaded it, letting the Beetle behind it get sliced.

Then, John saw the armor on the other side of the room. He dashed over while sending another blade at the BOSS to make it retreat temporarily. When John grabbed at the armor, he felt something weird. The armor flashed before disappearing. Somehow, he was now in the armor! He held the long sword with two hands because he didn’t have the strength to wield both the new sword and the wand.

He turned around to see one of the remaining two small Beetles ram itself into the armor. Thankfully, only a dent appeared. It fell to the ground stunned. John dropped the heavy sword onto the bug and felt delighted by the sound it made as it died.

He refocused his attention on the last two Beetles, but realized he had made a mistake. The BOSS had somehow left his vision. Too late, John felt something ram into his backside and threw him across the room. He groaned as he got up and saw something on the floor before he felt the result.

A small pool of blood was forming underneath him. Once he realized it was his, John felt the sharp pain of having his back ripped to shreds. The pain was so much that he nearly blacked out right then and there. He had enough conscious to aim at the Beetle and cast another Wind Blade.

Unfortunately, he had run out of Mana! His hand trembled as he grabbed the blue Magic Potion. He brought the lid up to his lips but he wasn’t fast enough. The BOSS came back around and aimed for something other than his back.

The Magic Potion crashed upon landing on the floor. It was soon followed by a small thud as a dismembered hand fell as well. However, John couldn’t even scream out in pain since his throat was cut open. Blood flowed freely as his body slowly slumped to the floor.

    He had lost.

(Gabriel looked at the chocolate lover before him. He gave a slight smirk before Summoning a large set of double Doors. They opened and blinded him. When he could see again, Choco found himself in a rocky room with two paths, one on the left and one on the right.)

(Choco heard that this dungeon was full of dangers and thus asked his elementals Bree and Flo to scan the paths for sounds that may indicate danger like monsters and plants that could be used to their advantage.)

(There were sounds of buzzing from four insect creatures coming from the left path and the sound of one small thing on the right path. However, there seemed to be a lot of plant life in the area. But most importantly, the small thing in the right path room seemed to be a plant as well.)

(Choco pondered on the information given by his elementals. Four creatures were a small number but he didn't know what type of creature they were while the other had lots of plant life. After a while he chose the right since he has a wood elemental to assist him and there was no place better for a wood elemental than one full of plant life.)

(Soon, Choco found himself surrounded by prickly red plant life. In the center of the next room, there was a small rodent creature that was made up entirely of Demon Vines. The Blood Vine Beast bristled when Choco got near.)

(Choco noted the thorns and decided to be wary of them. When he saw the creature made of vines he was shocked. These vines aren't regular vines. He asked Flo if she could control the vines while telling Bree to prepare for battle. The elementals already did before he even asked.)

(The Blood Vine Beast reacted to the provocation and acted! It lashed out with a long tail covered in thorns!)

(The reaction of the vine beast was fast and before Choco could react, a long tail covered in thorns was coming towards him. Good thing Bree already intercepted the tail with a wind blade while Flo continued on trying to gain control of the vines. Bree went for the attack by throwing two more wind blades at the vine beast.)

(The Blood Vine Beast staggered and lost parts of its body. Muddy brownish red liquid flowed like blood from the cut off stems and the Beast collapsed. Now Choco had another decision to make. There were two more paths here once again.)

"That was close. You should be faster Bree or else I might had to make a move a while ago and this would be over."

Choco dodged a wind attack from Bree.

"Okay, two more paths. Let's see what these two have in store for us. Bree. Flo. Same thing."

(The elementals did the same as before and scanned the two paths.)

(Both paths led to rooms with buzzing insects. The left one had six and the right one had ten. However, on the right path, there seemed to be a hidden path. Before he made a decision, Choco heard a sound from behind him. He turned around to discover that his way back was blocked by a curtain of thorny Vines.)

"The left is safer but the right has a hidden path based on the flow of the wind in the air...Wait what was that?...The vines are blocking our way back?...I wonder…"

(Choco tried to cast a fireball to see the reaction of the Vines.)

(The Vines trembled as they turned into ash. However, more Vines appeared to take their place. It was as if nothing had happened. Well, except a couple more Blood Vine Beasts appeared. They guarded the path Choco originally came from and shook their bodies menacingly.)

(Choco backed off from the wall of vines.)

    "Okay, that's good to know..."

(He looked at the two paths and after a moment chose the right one.)

"Though more dangerous, but I wonder where that hidden path goes... Bree, Flo try to keep up alright, I might not be able to protect you guys."

(The elementals ignored his comment and readied themselves for the battle ahead.)

(Choco went down the winding path and eventually came across the secret path. Deciding to go down it, he was surprised to see another wall of Vines block his retreat. Continuing on, he entered the room in front of him. It was barren, save for the unassuming chest in the center. Choco opened it up and found two bottles of fluid. One was blue and the other was red. After putting the loot away, he realized there was another path that led further into the Dungeon.)

“Nice! I thought we would meet some creatures before the path. Wonder if their senses are not that high... Also what could these bottles be? Must be valuable since it was hidden here. Anyways, will know once I finish this dungeon."

    (Choco stored the bottles.)

    Choco obtained:

    • Health Potion
    • Magic Potion

"Bree, Flo scan the area ahead. Something might be waiting for us."

(He said to his elementals as he continued down the path.)

(The elementals couldn’t find anything ahead so they walked along with no worries.)

(Choco found himself in a room with two large double Doors. As he approached, the Doors swung open to reveal five big Beetles and one large Beetle. They weren't reacting to his presence yet, but it was only a matter of time.)

(Everything happened too fast. Choco just arrived at a room with two large double doors and with the elementals assistance he couldn't sense anything dangerous in the room. He thought he would make another decision but before he could the doors suddenly opened revealing six beetles. Five big ones and one really big one, probably the leader. He prepared himself for the attack to come but nothing happened. He could see the beetles hadn't noticed him.)

"Their sense aren't that high...But won't be long til they notice me...Damn it! No choice then...Need to take the initiative...Bree! Flo! Let's go!"

(Bree immediately attacked the Beetles with a wind blade each. Flo called out to the Vines in the surrounding to ensnare the Beetles, and Choco was casting [Wind Boost] and [Nature's Boost] on himself while readying a fireball.)

(It was hard to say what reached the Beetles first, the wind blades or the Vines. However, whatever wasn't sliced in half was pierced by the thorny Vines. Even the BOSS, who expertly evaded the wind blade it had detected, was grabbed by the Vines and crushed. They were only bugs, after all. In a very anticlimactic BOSS fight, Choco was standing in confusion. Was that it? Well, a pile of Gold, a lump of metal, and two Mithril Ingots fell down from above. It looked like he won!)

(Choco gathered the loot and exited through the double doors on the opposite side. He was greeted by a slightly grumpy Hobgoblin.)

"I don't think you are just a measly E Rank, you know?"

(Gabriel waved his hand while still munching on his meal. What appeared was a large set of double Doors that opened and blinded Zone. When he opened his eyes, he saw a rocky room with three different paths. For some reason, however, a buzzing sound filled the air from all paths. It was just that the middle path also had dense red vegetation.)

(Zone had once heard that if you got lost in a cave, everything would be fine if you touch the cave with your left hand and move on forward...or was it right? Either way, being the naïve person he is, he went down the left path.)

(After a little while, Zone found himself in a small circular room with several flying bugs about the size of his hand. However, unlike normal bugs, these Beetles had sharp exoskeletons and a red haze around their eyes. They were Berserk! They immediately flew at Zone!)

(Unable to think of anything smart, the poor Adventurer just ran through the swarm of the Beetles. The Berserk Beetles cut Zone's flesh piece by piece. A muddy substance splattered all around the circular room. The wound may have been restored after a few minutes, but the pain was certainly felt. It was always at times like these that he was grateful he wasn't human. Zone didn't know that if even his Sturdy Syringe, which was able to pierce human flesh, was capable against the Berserk Beetles. The same goes for his Scissors. The only "weapon" which may even hurt them...might actually not even have been available. In other words; despite not having wounds, Zone could only either flee or be the Dungeon's meal.)

    Zone has taken damage!

(As Zone tried his best to dodge the Beetles, he saw that when two of the Beetles collided, they cut each other to pieces. It seemed that these Beetles could hurt themselves! They must not be very tough...)

(After dodging the Beetles countless times and letting them collide each other, Zone suddenly thought to himself.)

‘Wait... what am I doing? In the end, they're just bugs, aren't they?’

(He stomped a bug with his feet. The bug died on the spot, its greenish yellow guts spread on the ground.)

    Zone has taken damage!

    "..."

(Not minding that the Beetles are attacking, Zone really thought that he wanted to die of embarrassment.)

    Zone has taken more damage!

(...after a while, the bugs were cleared, and Zone put the corpses of the bugs in his Item Box for future research. And so, Zone moved on to the next room.)

(After cleaning up, Zone was met with two more paths, both buzzing with the sounds of more Beetles.)

(The clueless creature still chose left, while hoping that his luck wasn't going to let him down.)

(Zone ended up finding himself in another room. This time, there were even more Beetles! If the last room held ten, this one held over twenty! Just how many Beetles were there?!)

(Seeing that the amount of Beetles doubled, and the fact that the Beetles are actually weaker than expected, Zone used his Item Box to summon his "main weapon": Rats.)

(The reason why he didn't use them before was because he thought that the rats might get killed when they attacked. Despite being weak, he only had 50 of them as his "familiars".)

(...surprising the owner as usual, the Beetles were actually no match for the rats. Not only were they outnumbered, but the rats could 'regenerate' their wounds.)

"Wait a minute, what!? That never happened before!"

(On his previous quests, whenever the rats got cut, they bled red blood just like any rat, and died after a few minutes when not treated.)

‘Not that anyone would treat them though... except me, because they're the ones protecting me’

The Beetles got wiped out within 5 minutes, and Zone noticed that the rats seem to have a darker hair than before after they've eaten the Beetles...

"...is it possible that they're actually 'evolving'? ...I have got to research this matter when I get out of this cave."

(And so, Zone moved on to the next room.)

(There was only one path this time so Zone went down it and found himself in a room with two familiar large Doors and a treasure chest in the center in the room. He went over and opened the box to find two paper Talismans.)

(Zone was delighted by the items and immediately put them in the Item Box. Feeling that the large Doors were creepy, Zone decided to rest for the time being and focus on regenerating his lost health and stamina.)

Zone and company has become fully rested!

(After confirming that every rat was ready to fight again, Zone opened the large Doors.)

(Zone walked into the BOSS room to see ten small Beetles and two large ones! They had the exact same red haze that signified their Berserk state. When they heard his steps, they all turn around and charge at Zone! The two large Beetles stay back to lead.)

(Unlike the other time, Zone was prepared for them to attack him immediately. That's why...he didn't move. While the small Beetles were cutting him piece by piece, the rats used their teeth to tear the exoskeleton of the small Beetles. Although it hurt, Zone was beginning to get used to pain. After the small Beetles were killed and eaten by the rats, the two large Beetles began to attack as well.)

Zone has taken even more damage!

"Ah. This... I may have a problem."

(The large Beetles were attempting to kill the rats first. Seeing this, Zone immediately tried his best to distract and provoke the large Beetles. The large Beetles rammed into Zone to a wall and he got almost knocked out from the pain...this long fight lasted for another 15 minutes before the rats actually pierced the exoskeleton of the large Beetles all the way to eat their internal organs.)

    Zone keeps taking damage!

(It was a shame that the corpses were damaged, but Zone won the fight and stored the corpses into his Item Box anyway.)

(With the surroundings now calm, Zone saw a pile of treasure appear just before the large Doors on the other side of the BOSS room. There was a large pile of Gold and several rare items as well. Zone put the items in his Item Box and left the Dungeon.)

Joseph Scott felt like he was going mad. He had almost gotten the young noble back home when a Hobgoblin dressed in scholarly clothes appeared and knocked him and everyone else out. When he awoke, he found himself in a dungeon. There were bars on the windows and everything.

He could hear the cries of his other comrades groaning and moaning in the cells beside him. However, no one had seen the young master. Where was he? Was he being turned into a hostage? Why would a Monster act so…intelligent?

Wait, was this a Hobgoblin King or something? How else could he have such a place?!

Just when he was about to go mad just like his coworkers, a loud voice echoed throughout the dungeon.

“Calm down, you idiots. Your master is dead. He lost a little game I set up. Let’s see if one of you manages to do better. Ah, you don’t seem too muddled. Want to have a go? If you win five times in a row, I will let you go free. Plus, each time you win, I can give you a little prize.”

Joseph had no idea what to say.

“Do we have a deal? Don’t worry, you should do great. Come on, just give it a go.”

Swallowing his saliva, and his heart as well, Joseph reluctantly nodded his head.

“Good! Now, then, come on out.”

Just when the cell door opened, Joseph leaped out at the Hobgoblin with a weird mask in an attempt to get rid of him. He didn’t expect to be completely flattened.

    “Heavy.”

All it took was one word and Joseph was lying prone on the ground, cracks forming in his armor.

“Well then, give it a go.”

The Hobgoblin waved his hand and a set of Doors appeared.

“Go in, you won’t die…not immediately, anyway.”

Joseph stepped inside and became temporarily blinded. When he adjusted, he found himself in a room with two separate paths. One had ominous looking foliage and the other had an intense buzzing. Either way seemed to be a bad ending.

He turned around to see if he could leave, but the Doors were nowhere to be found.

“You can leave once you reach the end.”

Joseph steeled himself and chose the one he could handle. The buzzing. He pulled out a leather glove and switched his left gauntlet for it. He then reached over and drew his short sword in his right hand.

Once he got close enough, he saw several slightly large bugs that looked like black glass shards were stuck to a large stag beetle. But it was still menacing to say the least. However, Joseph felt fine. He drew a figure with his left hand onto the side of the sword. It turned beet red and glowed with a hot light.

The Beetles reacted and started to fly over. Somehow, they seemed sort of…lazy. They approached Joseph as if he was merely an attraction. They buzzed around him but didn’t really attack. They were actually staring at the sword with rapt attention.

    “Hehe.”

Joseph chuckled as he calmed down. Joseph wasn’t just any sort of Magic Swordsman, he was actually a Beekeeper who changed his job into a Soldier. The Leader Essence was a good spell to have in order to attract the pesky bees that could just fly wherever they wanted. He looked again at the five Beetles and smiled brighter.

As the Beetles were too busy following the sword, they could not react in time as three of their number fell in an instant. Just as the other two were about to act, a cloud of pink gas appeared and covered them.

The two Beetles collapsed onto the ground still alive. Taking his sword, he killed one and was about to move on to the next one when he realized he could possibly control the Beetle to work for him! He was an accomplished Beekeeper and could have three bees follow him around.

    Maybe it could work here?

He had long lost his bees because they were just normal bees. Sure they had poison, but practically any smoke took them out. One had even flew over dinner once. One sorry sap found out the hard way. What an embarrassing way to go.

However, Joseph had to pay attention to the now. He went through the procedures and followed the methods he learned from his father and when it was finally completed, Joseph had a little Beetle following him around!

    “Haha!”

The two continued on, but they immediately came to another fork in the path. This time, it was a choice between red plants and…nothing? Joseph went down the right path and saw that he had made the correct decision! There was a treasure chest!

In it were two familiar bottles. One was a Health Potion and the other was a Magic Potion.

    Joseph obtained:

    • Health Potion
    • Magic Potion

Joseph happily placed the Potions into a satchel at his waist and looked at the only path. He wanted to turn around, but walls of thorny Vines blocked his retreat. He could only move forward.

When he entered the last room and saw the double Doors, Joseph was ecstatic.

    “It’s finally over!”

Just as he was about to shove the Doors open, they swung wide to reveal the five small Beetles and the one large one. Joseph faltered but quickly regained his balance. Unfortunately, he didn’t have enough time to coat his blade in the Leader Essence. Instead, he sent the Beetle on his side to deal with one while he took on the others.

However, he was depressed as he saw the small Beetles crush each other into pulp. With one of the Beetles out of the way, he still had five to deal with. He kept his stance and swung at any Beetle that got too close. One, two, and then three Beetles fell to his blade.

The last two were very cautious, but a scream from the larger Beetle made the smaller one rush forward. Joseph easily cut it in two, its blood and guts spilling into the air. It was a very satisfying cut that looked really cool, he thought.

But then he realized he still needed to pay attention. He barely made it in time to deflect the large BOSS Beetle from completely impaling his face. The BOSS got dazed and fell to the ground. He was about to end its life when he realized this one was tougher.

    Would his Taming work?

It did! The BOSS Beetle buzzed around and landed on his right arm, looking like a deadly black shield. Suddenly, a ray of light appeared and a small scroll appeared. Joseph walked over and saw the words written on it.

“Monster Fusion? C Rank Skill? What does that mean?”

Joseph picked it up and realized there was also a back to the paper. It didn’t contain much, just the first form a person holding the Class of Monster Fuser could do. It was a basic technique and all it did was Boost the inherent abilities of the Monster he chose.

    “BOOST!”

The Beetle started to glow and Joseph felt the Beetle grow heavy. He tapped his leather glove on the outer carapace of the Beetle and found it to be far sturdier than it used to be. This would help in the future, he realized. Especially he managed to see that Hobgoblin again!

Speaking of which, there were Doors on the other side of the hall! Joseph rushed over and pushed them open, finding himself back where he was just at. Even the Hobgoblin was standing there!

    “Go!”

    “Uh uh uh!”

The Hobgoblin wagged his finger while the other hand reached out and grasped the Beetle with great precision. It was practically stuck in place!

“Now, now. You still have four more turns until you get free! I suggest you start training because next time, it won’t be so easy.”

The Hobgoblin walked off after closing the cell doors. Not long after, a strange sound could be heard. Several small children sized humanoid rock monsters started to apply more bars to the cell.

Lesser Golems! This Hobgoblin had a group of Lesser Golems?! Where was this place?!

Now facing a firm resolve, Joseph Scott decided to start training. He would survive this torture. He would survive and get out of this place.

(Gabriel snapped his fingers and a large set of wooden double Doors appeared. Before Malphas could respond, he found himself blinded. After his eyes adjusted, he found himself in a strange room with three pathways going left, right, and straight forward. The walls, floors, and even the ceiling were all covered by a weird brittle red moss like plant. Underneath the foliage was hard rock. Maybe this was a cavern?)

(After Malphas found that the red vegetation seemed to be something like algae, he flipped a coin. It landed tails up. So, he headed down the right path. As he got closer, he could somewhat hear the sound of buzzing. Malphas turned around to see that his way back is now blocked and he could only move forward.)

(Malphas ducked into the next room as quietly as possible, but the plants on the floor crunched underneath his steps. Four jet black Demon Beetles the size of an adult's hand turned around to face the newcomer. Seeing as how Malphas was not exhibiting an aggressive stance, they calmly flew over to check out the disturbance. As one of them got close, Malphas could practically see himself reflected on the sharp, glass like body of the large bug. He was backed into a corner!)

(Malphas tried to stay perfectly still and unlike an enemy. The first Beetle landed on his shoulder and its sharp body accidently cuts his shirt. Unsure of how blood would make them react, Malphas tried to move around slowly so as to not agitate the Beetles. As he got towards the center of the room, he noticed there were two pathways that were blocked. One was the way he came in.)

(While he was observing the room, the Beetle on his body started to climb its way towards his back. The crawling sensation almost made Malphas shiver. However, he did his best not to provoke the Beetles. The other three were back to their original spots while this one was content to crawl all over him. Just as he was about to try and knock it off somehow, he noticed a strange indention in the wall.)

(There was a strange shadow that looked to be the size of a pathway. Once he noticed it, he saw another actual pathway on the opposite side of the room. This one, however, was not blocked.)

(Sensing something strange with the shadowy indention, Malphas inched closer to the location where it was at. He slid along the wall and felt a weird raised part of the wall. Before he could realize what it was, the button was pushed and the rocky wall slid open, revealing a clean and plantless path. The rush of wind somehow sent the Beetle resting on him flying. Making use of the moment, he dashed down the path and came to a room with a large chest.)

(Wait, was this a hidden room? Looking forward, there were two separate paths, though one had buzzing sounds coming from it. The other one was still clean. Should he open the chest before continuing? There must be something inside that could keep away the red plants and black bugs.)

(Due to his personal past, Malphas decided to not take chances of the chest being a Mimic and struck first! However, nothing happened except that the chest got several holes in it. He opened the chest to reveal two strange pieces of paper.)

(Once he realized that he had gotten lucky, he tried his hand at the coin again. Hopefully this time, he didn't get stuck with a bad draw. He flipped the coin and got...heads. He sighs before heading towards the left path that holds the buzzing sound.)

(Malphas tries to do the same thing he did last time by stealthily entering the room. However, a normal person's heart would have stopped upon seeing the ten Beetles buzzing around. Swallowing his saliva and probably his heart, Malphas tried to run straight to the exit on the other side of the room.)

(To do this, however, he had to barrel through the Beetles. They got knocked away, but he now had several gashes across his arms since he shielded his face. He rushed down the path and noticed the Beetles weren't following him.)

    Malphas has taken damage!

(When he looked around, he noticed he was in a room that was like the treasure room. However, there were only the large double Doors that probably led to the end of this place.)

(Malphas entered the next room after removing two acupuncture needles and his scalpel from his item box. He noticed the Doors were exceptionally easy to open, as if they were moving as well. Upon entering the BOSS room, Malphas saw the decorated dance hall with the extravagant chandelier and the two imposing suits of armor next to the exit that each had a long sword at the waist.)

(But what truly captured his eyes were the five small Beetles and the one large one. This Beetle was the size of a person's head! The large Beetle gave a weird shriek that made the others fly towards Malphas while it stayed behind, probably to attack when he dropped his guard.)

(Seeing the 5 Beetles rushing towards him, Malphas reacted calmly and put away the needles. He held the scalpel in front as the Beetles charged him and mentally decided to keep an eye on the larger Beetle. The first Beetle came close and attacked, but Malphas stepped away from it, narrowly avoiding the attack.)

(Taking use of the opportunity created, Malphas stabbed the Beetle through what looked like its head, killing it immediately. At the same time however, a different Beetle scraped past Malphas' left shoulder, making him bleed.)

    Malphas has taken damage!

(He grimaced internally and stepped away from the Beetles. He recovered just in time as another 3 Beetles caught up to him and tried to attack. He dodged each one with very little room to spare and lashed out against another Beetle, severely wounding it.)

(At this point in time, movement from the larger Beetle had Malphas on his toes as he continued dodging the rest of the Beetles while keeping an eye on the big one. One Beetle charged straight at him and he had no time to dodge. While panicking slightly, Malphas used the scalpel to slash the Beetle.)

(It was cut in half, but not before it managed to make a cut on Malphas' arm.)

    Malphas has taken damage!

(While sidestepping another attack, Malphas surveyed the surroundings and ran towards the larger Beetle, with the rest of the Beetles in pursuit. Finding an opening, the large Beetle sped towards Malphas' front as he looked behind him. At the last second though, he dodged out of the way. Without knowing that the BOSS was rapidly oncoming, the Beetles collided with each other.)

(One of the smaller Beetles died immediately while the boss was damaged minimally. Unfortunately, the other Beetle managed to escape unscathed as it rushed Malphas. A gleam was seen in Malphas' eyes as he waved his hand quickly towards the flying Beetle, sending something speeding towards it.)

(Once it made contact, the Beetle fell to the floor, the only hint of what happened was the long metal needle protruding from its body. Relieved, Malphas readied himself to fight the boss. It seemed to be quite angry as it made something akin to a screeching noise and rushed him. As it got closer, Malphas made no movements, only observing it in depth.)

(Malphas dodged at the last second but the Beetle took note of that and quickly pursued him. Malphas took note of the Beetle’s reaction time and looked at its eyes, mentally graphing the Beetle's field of view. Feeling satisfied with his findings, Malphas stopped once more, allowing the Beetle to draw near.)

(A coldness could be seen in Malphas' eyes as he stayed silent, watching the oncoming Beetle. As it attacked his head, he ducked down to the side, out of the Beetle’s line of vision, before dashing to the opposite side to confuse the Beetle. The Beetle looked to where he first dodged and stalled slightly. Soon, it dropped dead on the floor as a long needle protruded from its back.)

(Out of seemingly nowhere, a pillar of light descended in front of Malphas and he could see a pile of gold and a couple of items. He took everything and put them into his item box before leaving out the other Doors and back into the regular world.)

The dungeons had become eerily quiet after the Hobgoblin came in and took all of the Pirates away. The only ones who remained were the two surviving soldiers from the human empire and the five Highwaymen from Treacherous Port.

The man known as Joseph was too busy sending his Beetle everywhere to care about anyone else. Sometimes, his whispers would haunt people’s dreams. The other man, Derik Lokson, wasn’t that far off. He had ignored any questions thrown his way and was absorbed in the little book he won when he survived the Dungeon.

They dreaded the wait for their turn and when they heard his steps coming down the stairs, they all quivered.

“Right then, let’s have the leader, shall we?”

A hooded person in a robe carrying a staff on their back stood up and shivered as they walked over to the cell door. Suddenly, the door was replaced by large wooden double Doors and the leader of the Highwaymen disappeared.

Laerwyn Woodshift had no idea where she was. The creepy red walls and floor and ceiling made it hard for her to catch her breath. She fiddled with her staff and twisted the handle. A crisp snapping sound could be heard as the handle detached from the main part of the staff to reveal a flintlock revolver.

She had worked hard for this treasure and she wasn’t above using it in a time of crisis. The only problem was that the Hobgoblin had taken her and her crew by complete surprise! She desperately wondered where to go and saw three paths in front of her.

Unsure of where to go, she decided to go straight. What she found was a terrible mass of blood red vines curling towards a couple of strange figures. They appeared to be animals made of the Vines. However, they seemed strange. There was a nearly imperceptible red haze that filled the air.

The Vine Beasts detected her presence and charged. Laerwyn readied her gun and fired, a large cloud of smoke and gunpowder discharging from the barrel. Unfortunately, it did nothing to stop the incoming three Vine Beasts. They were in the shape of large rats but their long tails were even more dangerous than those whips she saw in that one questionable shop.

It took Drayden several minutes to get her to leave, but she didn’t understand why he was so desperate.

Thinking of her bodyguard at this time would surely get her killed. She grabbed the staff and waved it around, knocking one of the Vine Beasts down and casting a Spell to buff herself.

Just as the first Vine Beast got close, Laerwyn dodged with a quick speed and flipped the staff around. She twisted this side over and another click sounded out before a thin piece of metal flashed through the air. With a blink of an eye, one of the Vine Beasts was dead, hacked to pieces.

So slash attacks worked best, huh? What about basic magic?

Laerwyn then reattached the pistol to the leftover staff and a flintlock rifle was made. Little runes appeared along the barrel and a magic circle arose facing one of the last two Vine Beasts.

    “[Burn]!”

Using the language of magic, she fired off a spray of flames that scorched not only the target, but the surrounding plants as well. It even caught the other Vine Beast. She quickly placed a weak barrier around her until the fire died down. She looked around to see that the way she came in was now barred by Vines. Wait, hadn’t she burned them?

They must have regrown exceptionally fast.

She looked around to see that there were three more paths to go down. Seeing as how she had just gone straight, she proceeded to do the exact same thing again. As she went down the path, she came to another red room with only two Vine Beasts this time.

She was ready with her rapier and slashed through the two Vine Beasts as if they were paper. Collecting herself before moving on, she realized there was only one path this time. Just to make sure, she looked behind her and noticed there were more Vines blocking the path back.

As she went down the path, she noticed the plants were decreasing until only a rocky tunnel was left. She went into the room and noticed two things. One was a familiar looking set of double Doors while the other was a random chest in the middle of the room.

Cautiously approaching the chest, she looked inside. Good! Potions!

Most of her and her teammates’ equipment had been taken as proof by that Hobgoblin. They had long since known he was actually an Adventurer and wondered what the hell was going on in the world. However, because of that, she had lost all of her money and little gadgets.

She really wanted those items back but they were already gone. If she could go through this Dungeon and get some more lifesaving equipment, maybe this wasn’t such a bad thing. As hopeful as ever, she practically skipped to the Doors only to discover they opened by themselves and revealed a dance hall with a strange creature.

    A Blood Vine Beast Boss!

It was shaped like a wolf and even had a flower growing on its back. The entire mass of Vines moved and writhed as one, making it appear to be breathing. Thorns lined the mouth area and made it look like the creature had teeth. There was one large thorn in the middle of its forehead and the entire thing was crimson.

Without wasting time, she pulled out her rifle and tried to cast [Burn] but the BOSS was too fast. The flower on its back produced two whip like vines that slammed towards Laerwyn. She had to stop her chant and roll out of the way but she ended up getting scratched on the shoulder.

She tried to cut off one of the thorn vines but it just rearranged its body to make the whip just as long as before. She could only hope to find some way to cast the spell! Or did she?

She looked up at the chandelier and noticed it was directly above the BOSS. She shot at it and the chain holding it up broke, dropping the chandelier on top of the BOSS and crushing it. Just in case, she started to prepare her spell.

Just before she finished, vines grew out of the wreckage and lifted it up and away, revealing a wounded BOSS. However, she had enough time to finish her spell.

    “[Burn]!”

The BOSS got incinerated and a glowing light appeared that dropped down her rewards. There was a strange book that was titled ‘Gunners for Dummies’. Inside were details on the Gunner Class and also about its first Skill Mana Shot. It was a spell that used pure Mana to attack with and had no element to it, making it effective against any enemy.

The other item was a petal that looked to be from the flower of the Vine Beast BOSS. It was large enough to be a shield and when she grabbed it, Laerwyn found that not only was it light, it was durable! It was indeed a shield! There were little vine straps that easily fit around her arm. It was small and still gave her room to maneuver as the shield was over her arm and not held in her hand.

This also helped as she could guard her face when she tried to fire her rifle.

Once she was equipped, she stepped into the exit and returned to the mansion’s dungeon. She then told her tail to the others and planned on helping them however she could.

Gabriel looked on from the side and nodded. He needed strong survivors that could last until the BOSS room at least or else Dmitri couldn’t get a suitable feeding. So he needed to gather stronger people.

Even if it meant they would get strong enough to challenge him and defeat him, though he doubted they could. He had too many tricks up his sleeve for that. He couldn’t wait until the next feeding.

Ginger-kun is always observing the dungeon from the sidelines, it's basically impossible to die due to that... Unless you're an NPC to feed the dungeon that is, but you're not an NPC, so you'll be fine Aria-chan!

Besides, I think you can take your familiars with you, this should make things easier, shouldn't it? You might also be able to tame some of the beasts within the dungeon itself!
