Rei woke up from the hellish pain assaulting her body.
No, hellish wasn't even beginning to describe it.
Imagine the worst pain you ever felt, times a thousand, now imagine that pain lasting forever.
Well Rei didn't have to imagine.
Obviously, she never pushed her body that far before, even as Raikou.
After thrashing from the pain for a bit where she was layed down, a few priests and sisters who noticed ran over to her to hold her in place and continue the treatment.
When she calmed down from the healing magic and the pain nullifiers, Rei was now calm enough to observe her surroundings.
It appears she was in the temple, undergoing treatment.
Someone must have brought her here after she passed out.
What happened to the Golem and the cultists?
From bits and pieces she gathered from the conversations of the sisters going around her, it seems the battle was over in their victory and only the clean up was left.
Rei flopped back down into her healing bath.......
Bath???
Rei's head snapped back up to look at herself.
Yup she was practically naked, wearing only a loose white bath robe for kids.
Rei beckons the sister incharge of her recovery and questions her about her current attire, as well as the whereabouts of her old one.
She was relieved to know that it was only the sisters who assisted in changing her clothes, and that her outfit as well armor and items were being kept safe in one of their offices.
Feeling somewhat sleepy again, Rei allowed her mind and body to relax in the soothing heal bath and began to dooze off.

Fen comes out from dark alley with two paper bags

"Other adventurers will manage it somehow so I don't need to join them."

*bigger sighs* "Yeah, next time. We should hand this letter to the guild." *continues walking*

((Hey! Fen, look on the right. He's beaten up. Hehehe~))

"Hm?" Fen turns his head and looks at someone who broke the stall.

*pokes Gourd* "Need help?"

((Hehe~ You looks messy than I last saw you. ))

 

"Little axey could talk some mad shit now? Come here, let me hold it for a few seconds." The gourd wouldn't take that kind of sass lying down. Even if he's technically lying down at the moment.

 

" 'No, Your hands are dirty. Go wash your hands first you old man.' Umm... That's what she said."

((Umu! ))

Fen moves Gourd's arm around his neck and supports him when he's standing up.

 

"If you got enough time to talk then go clean up over there." He pointed at the last remaining cultists being picked off by guards with pikes and ranged weapons. "Just offed their core fighting strength, shouldn't be much problem for you."

 

((Fenfen~ This is our 'next time'! Let's go! Let's go!))

*sigh* "I'm tired~ I'm hungry~ I'm want to sleep~ You do it yourself."

((Umu! Umu! Umu!)) The black tattoos start spreading from Fen's right hand.

"Gourd, Take care of these two bags for me" *hands over the paper bags*

Shia takes Fen's body and does some weird pose

"Prepare! No one can stop me now! Shaaaaa!" Fen(Shia) rushes toward the group of cultists and plays with them.

 

The gourd stretched, then carried the paper bags away.

"I'll just drop it at the guild."

 

"Oh, Kyle? And Mr. Grimm Grimoire." Ryul greeted a familiar face.

"I am assuming you took out many of the cultists at the Church after we were separated. Most of the danger has passed, and now it is really just cleaning up and dealing with the aftermath."

The half-elf gestured behind him, "I'm escorting this group of injured folk here to Ophelia's Temple for some healing. Shouldn't be too many left though. You go on ahead. I and Th'Kun are more than enough as an escort."

"I'll see you around later after all this is over. Stay safe, the both of you.", Ryul waved at them as he left and continued guiding the civilians to the Temple.

This should be one of the last groups of injured people remaining. He hoped so. Ryul desperately wanted to just rest and tend to his own wounds. Maybe he will ask the Sisters to be healed as well when he went back this time.

 

Lethe woke up in a state of utter confusion. Last he remembered he had been drinking Spirytus in his showdown versus Garrosh...where the heck was he now?

Everything was a hot mess but look suspiciously familiar... It took him a bit to realize there was a reason everything looked suspiciously familiar, he was in Nagrand! What in the world had happened? To go from a festival to this...

Wait, wait, wait: the snack stalls! What about the snack stalls! He had yet to find the One True Snack!!! Lethe was so distraught he didn’t even notice Cinis by his side or the others milling about. Not able to take the reality of there being no snacks left and deciding that there was no better time than the future to deal with the issue, Lethe went straight back to sleep.

 

After leaving Fen's items with a random guild staff - just nodding off to the fee they stated -, the gourd surveyed the surrounding with some daze. There wasn't much more killing to be done, only cleaning up and restoring order. That's way out of his expertise, so he'd rather not participate.

"What to do... guess I'll visit the orphanage."

And to the orphanage he went. He wasn't in a rush so he took his time walking, nursing the left arm that broke again during his latest stunt. Seems that instant healing work about the same everywhere - the healed parts would be raw and prone to re-injure themselves if exposed to strain. Then next bout of healing would be a bit less effective. He'd need to let it recover naturally for a while.

"Vhera! You home?" He called rather cheerfully, knocking the door on the gigantic witch hat. Who the heck designed it anyway? It's such a waste of space, could've had about twice as many rooms with normal structure.

Shiori opens the door, and looks out slowly.

"...We didn't order any gourd. Go away."

She slowly starts pushing the door closed.

 

The gourd incredulously stared at the door. The welcome was rather rude, he's not selling the gourd!

Well, fortunately for him Vhera was peeking out of a window at the upper floor, waving at him. So like any sensible person he materialized a couple of Hardlight platforms and climbed up, sitting cross-legged outside the window.

"I see you're safe."

 

I said while looking down a bit... "Y-yes! Th-thank you..." It felt a bit embarrassing to talk to a superhero... To think he was no only a protector of children, but also a superhero!

... What is a superhero though? It must be something super amazing!

 

He hesitated for a moment but eventually patted the little mermaid.

"So everything's good in there? It's still not safe to go out but the danger have mostly passed. Just stay indoor for a while."

 

"It's good! And... I'll stay! For a... While." Ah-ah-ah, wha-what should I do when patted!? I dunno, I... Uhn... It feels nice...

 

"Good for you then! If there's nothing else I'll be leaving then, be careful alright?"

 

In one of the many, many deserted houses which were destroyed by the cultists, two people were sitting face to face at a small wooden table. If one were to suddenly enter, they would think that these two were thieves. ...and they would be half right.

"So, what is your answer?" The barbarian had asked, in a low tone. "Well... Now that you have explained it at a slower pace, the cultists' actions do sound odd indeed," his conversation partner answered.

The said partner is a former countryside farmer orc in his thirties who've fallen to poverty. Unable to become an adventurer due to his lack of skills and fear of danger, the orc had no choice but to become a thief. Fortunately for him, the cultists were raiding Nagrand when he was about to break in someone's house for his first time, and he had somehow been lucky enough to not be shot by the fire and dark magic while hiding in a wooden barrel. Unfortunately for him, an Adventurer had come late to the party, got informed about the situation by his colleagues, went to search the remaining cultists, and incidentally opened a barrel with an orc inside.

That day, the town of Nagrand was filled not with happy music anymore, but instead reeks the stench of blood and burnt meat. Many corpses had been looted by some Adventurers who think that pilfering from the dead enemy is a righteous deed, while many other thieves have appeared at multiple areas. No citizen was happy that day. They were either happy that they were still alive, or mourning for the dead. Some were both.

Zoan had dragged the wannabe thief from the barrel to some desolate house, and instead of threatening him, robbing him or killing him, Zoan had instead asked him "What do you think about the cultists' attack?" Naturally, the wannabe thief was confused, and the barbarian's rough and chopped explanations did not help either, but Zoan was finally able to convey his messages and questions.

"Hrmm..." While the barbarian was deep in thought, the orc started talking. "Look. I am grateful that you won't report me to the authorities, but what will you do with me now? I don't have a wife nor will my family be able to help my financial problems. At this rate, I might as well turn myself in immediately and hope that prison life is better..." A depressing mood had appeared near the orc. Meanwhile, while being indifferent from the orc's story, Zoan nonchalantly said: "I want your help."

 

"Ta-take care!" *waves*
