Timeline Restrictions: Event inside this thread only take place during the current day, before the character reports on their tasks.

This thread is for all role-play not taking place inside the Guild Tavern. You can interact with other players, or just describe your activities during tasks. Below is a map of the Town Region (to be updated), with districts provided:

• Guild Hall is located in Central Basin, next to the plaza
• The surroundings of the town are mostly grassy hills where not otherwise indicated
• There is a small forest to the east
• Further away from the town there are cliffs where ore can be gathered. These cliffs are especially thick and tall up north.

Description: The surrounding cliffs often drop rocks that can be cracked open to reveal metal ore or semi-precious stones. Grab a pickaxe and maybe get lucky! Be careful, because humanoid monsters also gather ore in this area (if two or more people get lucky the same day, weekly monsters arrive to fight them).

Lothar was having a much better day today, all things considered.

While he had woken up slightly hungover, Wilheim had thankfully been watchful of the cups and stopped Lothar from making a fool of himself by escorting him home before he got too deep into his cups.

Stroke of minor luck aside, he was finally one step forward in terms of resettling himself in this backwater, having successfully haggled for a proper repair kit! Sure, the merchant wasn't haggling too hard since the demand for artisans and other skilled workers outweighed any gains that could be obtained from extortion with high pricing, and would have earned unneeded enmity, anyhow, but that was unimportant!

Finally, he could put his skills as an armourer to proper use- while it was no forge, there was enough of a demand for arms and armour that the proper armourers being overwhelmed, leaving enough business for newcomers like him to make a living through simple maintenance.

He had rented a small stall for exactly that- his counter and an additional table made up his workshop, and the shade of the stall's fabric roof kept him cool as he slowly waited for business, drumming his fingers on the countertop with patience.

It was his first day, after all- he could wait.

It took quite a bit of effort for Edea to get out of bed this morning. While this may be the same as always, this time she had a proper excuse - having worked hard yesterday. After making herself look rather presentable almost unconsciously due to habit, she finally leaves her rented room, wandering out into the village. What to do today...

Whilst thinking, her eyes sweep the street before landing on a maintenance shop. It has been a while since she last had her weapon sharpened, so it might be time to make sure it stays strong and sharp. Though her weapon was based on her mind, thus the care required is a bit different than that of normal weapons. Would this tiny stall really offer something to sharpen her mind? Well, you can't know without asking.

So she approaches the stall and addresses its occupant after a second of hesitation. "Excuse me, sir. My weapon requires some maintenance but isn't exactly a normal weapon. Do you offer such services as well?"

Thinking that some proper explanation of its exact conditions is required, she starts to talk about the details of her "Blade of the Mind" spell. "You see, my weapon is based on my mind. For a sharp blade, I need a sharp mind. For a solid blade, I need a solid mind. In other words, I need to hone my mind to hone my weapon, so... would you fancy spar?"

While a philosophical discussion or simple chess would have worked as well, she should also hone her swordsmanship. Thus this offer.

Oh, a customer! His first, in fact!

The scholar didn't seem like a fighter- but he knew better than to judge a book by its cover. There were even old nuns that could best him in the art of fencing, after all.

Putting on a warm and inviting expression, he asked with much enthusiasm:

"Welcome! What do you need?"

Lothar nodded along for a moment, but as the scholar further described her weapon, his face drooped, morphing into confusion.

This was by no means what he had expected from his first customer, of all things.

Still, he quickly stowed away his confusion, putting on a false smile to hide it and reassure the scholar. After all, it was his first customer, and business was business- why not hear it out, at least?

"So..." Lothar rubbed his beard, letting the gears fully turn in his head as he processed the scholar's outlandish request. "You mean to seek...a sparring opponent? Strange of you to ask a simple armourer, don't you think?" Lothar let out a hearty chuckle, this time genuine as he realised the absurdity of the situation at hand.

Still, fencing? A thoughtful glint appeared in Lothar's eyes as he pondered on it. Coincidentally, the art of defence happened to be a favoured hobby of the artisan, and he was certainly proficient enough to do well in fencing tournaments when they came around.

While this was not a request you would expect any normal repairer to fulfil, it so happened that Lothar could do so- and he was not picky about the strangeness of a request as long as it wasn't too much and he got rewarded his fair share. How else did you think an artisan earned their fortune? Eccentric merchants and nobles with strange tastes were walking sacks of gold, waiting to be pilfered.

Wonder if there are any of those folks in this backwater...

Shaking that thought aside, Lothar now looked to the scholar with a broad grin.

"Well, I suppose I could accede to your request. I've been lacking practice anyhow, and it won't hurt if I get paid for it. I'm Lothar Taube. What's your name, miss?"
