Inconsistent characterization is annoying

 

This is one of the reasons why I love Leylin(comparisons can't be helped.Wizard world too)
He has always been basically the same or didn't deviate much from who he is. Atleast to us as viewers . Even from when he was super weak to the latest you won't feel any inconsistency. Some change with power but not him.

 

As the translator who read ahead, I think i need to address the concern of 'inconsistent character' a little bit.

Spoiler: Inconsistent character? I don't think so

Imagine this:

You were weak, everybody around you are stronger and craftier, dark and twisted. You don't know who would kill you just because you said something simple. So, you maintained a low profile, avoid provoking anybody, and eventually avoid making 'friends'.

One day, you suddenly realized you were given with a super power. A power that allowed you to become stronger than anybody else. But, as you had been staying low for 6 years, that became your second nature. You didn't suddenly kick on someone's ass when he walked by; you didn't jump on table and shouted 'I'm the strongest!'. You still worried there are people who are stronger than you, and might kill you with some unknown methods. After all, you don't know everything.

Things get better, you became stronger, and have more confidence in yourself. Oh, you have a 'friend' who is strong, and wanted to protect you. You're grateful for that, and decided to repay her kindness by protecting her when you became stronger than her. You continued staying low, until one day.

Your 'secret' of being strong had been discovered by someone. They seemed friendly to you, though. As a teenager yourself, sometime you do wish you could show off in front of many people, especially you know you're pretty 'strong'.

'Let me show you what I've got!'

Greem didn't suddenly turned cocky, he knew what he was capable of achieving. And because he was in a rather friendlier environment, he could finally relax his guard against people. After all this, he turned back to his low profile as usual, because that is his second nature.

 

Cocky is someone who believes he is strong
MC believes himself to be strong now, when he isn't. He has some tricks, and if everything goes right it can even work in his favor. On the other hand he can get curb stomped as well. it really depends

 

it feel kinda out of place...
MC is suddenly highly capable, though the reason is given that place is full high quality material and its contribute to A.I chip, the transition is too sudden

In that case, nobody is strong, as everyone has weaknesses that can be exploited.
His golems are an enormous part of his strength, and they are much much better than the pitiful fire spells he wants to learn - blasters are just not as powerful as summoners.
They just have the wrong notion that Spirit directly represents strength, otherwise they wouldn't look down at him as someone weaker.

Frankly, if he could master some form of remote control for his golems, he could easily solo all the missions while staying safely at the base...

 

It isn't that nobody is strong, its that you shouldn't be overly self assured of your strength. Because yes everyone has a counter.
Mary can kill greem faster than he can summon a golem.
This guy injured greem even though he went underground.
Black hand thinks himself to be all that when greem can see through his defenses.
Alice thought herself invincible because her space magic until greem saw through it and scorpion man went through it.
Those dark disciples thought the surfacers would be easy prey

When you are too self assured of your own strength you underestimate your opponents and act cocky. and that is very dangerous.

It isn't a wrong notion. His reaction times suffer because of the difference in spiritual level between him and the opponent causes suppression.
While he does have golems, and the golems are awesome, he is still very very squishy.

Luckily he now owns enough potion to rapidly break into mid apprentice level which would allow him to form an energy shield

 

Strength is ability to overcome challenges of different types and threat level.
Greem's golems are able to do it for a very very big range of threats, so that is why Greem has every reason to consider himself strong - he can defeat almost anything, or at least safely run away, unless it is something like incorporeal ghosts that ignore physical barriers, or a disruption of his control over his golems.
And his biggest strength is actually his ability to rapidly manufacture more of them.

As for that energy shield - it does almost nothing to increase his strength (unless it is vastly sturdier than his Golem Armor).

 

This is false. A lot of threats can kill him before he can summon his golems

 

Is there any reason he can not keep his golems summoned 24/7, at least in the danger zone?

 

The author initially gave them strict time limits. 4 minutes for small golem. 15 for large golem

then he silently changed his mind and now they seem to last indefinitely. Or maybe as long as the plot calls them to last

incidentally, he should use one of them as a suit of armor. leaving only an opening for his eyes and breathing.

 

Probably depends on the location - 4 and 15 minutes are their storage capacity, but they recharge automatically in the right environment. You have to lift those golems into the air, Antaeus-style, to make them run out of energy.

 

that makes sense. Of course, we have no idea how much energy is in different locations. so it basically amounts to "they last as long as the plot needs them to"
If the plot calls for them to run out, they will run out. otherwise they have infinite bullets ammo energy

 

Iron-man? though we already got it in Omni-Magician
but looking on description of core[varies in size], maybe he can make a Knight Armor with GN-drive

His first core on forehead and demon alligator on the chest?

 

He has an azure storm giant core. Not only is it higher level than alligator, but it is the correct color for the chest piece

Seems very stupid that he didn't dispel the Flesh Curse!
Sure, it would reduce the gains in Spirit, but he has his meditation that can easily increase it - and no real way to improve his Physique.

In addition, he became much weaker than before he drank those potions, as he doesn't have much use for greater Spirit - and his body was his one weakness...

 

Also, didn't he loot like 12 such potions? drinking 2 with the curse is his max. So that is 10 going to waste. He could have at least tried to see if the "reduced gains without the curse" are enough to, say, take 1 with curse and 11 without to get superior results. OR maybe 10 without curse would equal 2 with? who knows, he didn't bother testing it.

also, he could have ordered the chip to dispel the flesh curse the moment he passes out or his spirit stops growing. he doesn't need to remain conscious for that

that said, he does actually have a way to improve his physique. Eat fire dragon
