Hi guys, I'm looking for CN/KR novels with fantasy settings and antiheroes who don't have cheats. I've seen these MCs in published fantasy novels but haven't seen one in NU, so I'd like to raise my low webnovel standard a bit. Thank you.
The faster way to do so is by filtering out your search finds on NovelUpdates personally, and from there, you'll be able to find way more novels than us recommending some to you. CLICK ME TO VISIT
Yes he would find more but quantity does not equate to quality. I am sure he is asking us fellow nuffian’s because he trusts our experience. (I also am interested in seeing the recommendations as I’m looking for something new to read)
That is true, but it doesn't always mean quality is over quantity, he too, has his own preferences, so he might find a novel that he likes that no one has listed down.
Oh, Dungeon Defense should fit that category. Spoiler The power he receives is basically obsolete later in the novel. Otherwise, this novel is fantastically written with interesting character.
The Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich, really good, but its a qi novel, so idk if u would be willing to read it
? When did it move to being a QI novel? I remember reading it before and don’t recall it being on QI? Also isn’t the main character the pinnacle of being a cheat?
was being translated by starvecleric, which moved to gravity tales. then, he dropped it cuz of qi, and now qi is translating it
Oh I didn't see the cheat part lol..... It has a really good plot with unique twists and turns... still recomend it tho
It got moved to Qi. Also, well... the MC has a cheat system, but the scale of what he has to accomplish makes his powers relatively insignificant. It upgrades him from being an ant trying to stop a series of car crashes, to a rat trying to stop a series of car crashes, in a world with lots of cats and dogs and where enough roaches can take down a cat or dog, nevermind a rat. MC does need personal power, because nobody will take you seriously otherwise, but his main role is as a mastermind, not as a fighting force. In fact, even at the end of the series, plenty of his allies are more powerful and influential than him, and he can't order them around as he pleases. As a spoiler: Spoiler He's not even the first to get the 'cheat'. He had a bunch of predecessors, he's just the lucky one who managed to get this far, the others met miserable ends. In other words, the cheat is just a power as the rest. He actually realized early that it isn't reliable and stopped relying on the system too much. Most of his big plans were thought up by him alone. You don't want JP stories? The protagonsit of Akuyaku Tensei Dakedo Doushite Kou Natta. has no cheat. Back to CN and Kr though, maybe try Single Player Only? The MC has a few abilities though, it mostly just makes him a somewhat stronger human and that's it. He still needs to run for his life in the 'game'. The series is more focused on the mystery of what the heck is the game world and what's going on with the real world than on powering up. (oh wait you said antihero, nevermind)
It's still a cheat power nonetheless. There is also game element that adds nothing to the settings (as of the 2nd volume). I'm not sure if author is a hack, because he writes a bunch of psychopath characters and calls them good character developments is a little too overrated.
Haha, it's more than the power becoming obsolete... the author Literally forgets all about it. After a couple of volumes, it never gets mentioned again. The game elements pretty much disappear too. Well, it's true the characters are psychopaths though. xD I'm kind of tempted to recommend Youjo Senki. The MC is more powerful than others (same skills as other mages but stronger), but is still a soldier unit that has to obey orders and face life-and-death situations on the battlefield. She often get into tight spots and barely makes it.
Oh I won’t deny the game element is completely obsolete and nearly unmentioned and the characters a bit more extreme in nature than others. However, the novel does get better as you progress.
