At this point I just feel like I don't have anything to read. Any recommendations are aprreciated. Just no HAREM PLEASE...
1. no harem, no isekai, book that expanded on economics.it's quite fun to see and understand how the countries work in term of economy. There are aspects of politics too, by the government in the book. it's full of intrigue. 2. technically visual novel. but recommending world end economica.

RE: Trailer Trash Mother of Learning Beware Of Chicken Azarinth Healer Cinnamon Bun The Wandering Inn All of them are amazing and really well written. None of them have harem or even much romance.
Cradle series ( 9 books so far) by Will Wight -its xianxia/xuanhuan done by a western writer. Don't be discouraged by despised cripple protag start because its fake. The cripple part, that is. He is despised but he leaves his birthplace(middle of nowhere area with a regional curse limiting cultivation height. Living there means never going beyond 3rd realm, entering means falling to that level gradually and recovering after you leave) in first book. No harem. Elantris and Warbreaker(2 separate books in a collective multiverse) by Brandon Sanderson. No harem in either. Elantris is about a city of immortals who end up "cursed" and their place is now used as dumping ground for new people randomly manifesting same immortality and curse traits( weakness, ghoulish look, buildup of all pain you experience from then on). Book starts with a prince becoming like that and being thrown into the city, he works at bringing the other unfortunate people there out of their mental prisons built on said unending pains accumulating with every wound or bruise. There's also his fiancee looking for him and who also looks into the immortals area after finding it odd normal people say nothing about him anymore. There is also an invasive and aggressive religion trying to proselytize ( the first guy is peaceful, the army coming if he fails to convert locals in a short time is not). The fantasy elements come from words. The city and its immortals are powered by local geography corresponding to a language. The zealots from another land have a cruel training regimen where tiny, tiny runes are worked gradually into all the flesh and bones of a training monk ( trained in absolute obedience. Process is painful, takes years and you get to see senior monks sometimes do cruel shit to their own juniors just to see if you will wawer in loyalty ). Each has its pros and cons. Immortals are very versatile and powerful, but changes in landmarks can cripple them, monks have no such weakness, but the results are not worth what you need to go through and are so much weaker endbook reempowered city and its residents have no trouble repelling them. Warbreaker is set in a world where all people have 1 Breath at birth (at this starting point, its very artistic and not useful. Merely making the world and you more colorful ). Giving the Breath away diminishes you ( taking away the pink glasses, but needs must when some urgent need can be covered by selling it). There are certain numbers of Breath holding with specific powers (aka Heightenings. For example, having 50 grants you Aura Recognition and one way later at 1000 gives Life Sensing. There are 9 in total).
