And any you avoid?
I avoid NTR tags. I would have loved to avoid the rape tag too but most novels use that as a plot.
I like overpowered protoganist tag and the fast cultivation and sometimes the Fast learner tag
I don't search by tags, but these are the ones I automatically avoid:
Dense Protagonist is a big minus for me
I always avoid NTR, tragedy, shoujo, josei, any type of harem, clumsy/ cute/ dense protagonist.
I hate these kind of stories, that no matter how good or bad it is, it's instantly no for me.
As much as I wanna add drama to that list, unfortunately my dislike for drama is not that strong yet
I'm used to search for intelligent protagonists (mostly women)
I don't exclude anything because part of a tag might be in a novel I like and it might not even be a huge deal. But I generally don't read R-18 stuff, this includes all the rape, incest, etc. Anything you associate with R-18 is what I don't purposely seek out, if it's in my novel then meh.
As for what I do look for. Female Protags are my favorite. I generally look for Josei, Game elements, any kind of Isekai (transmigrated, reincarnated or transported to another world), dungeons.
Incest, Fellatio, Harem.
BL, shoujo, female protag, drama.
We can all agree the forbidden triad is harem, dense mc, and NTR.
Sure, yaoi sucks ass but that unholy trinity is pure evil.
I usually check if its JP/KR/CN.
Its just a preference. I just dont like cultivation or BL...
Depends on mood. Everything except "avoid" included.
Tags I look for .... btw you do mean tags though rather than genre, right?
When searching for romance novels, I oftentimes find myself looking for "power couple" tagged novels. And then there are other tags that I like in a novel but don't search for, e.g. clever protagonist, smart protagonist, character growth, carefree protagonist, couple growth, and lots of others.
As for tags that I avoid...
One is reverse harem (seriously why is this not a genre. Harem is, so why not the flipped gender version. So weird).
Those two ↑.
If it sounds like the rape tag is for rape between a main couple, I avoid that novel. Can't fucking stand couple rape I'd also avoid it if it seems like someone's constantly getting raped in the present time of the narration (or whatever you call that). If it's the past and explains why a character has certain traits or so, that's not as bad for me personally.
Yaoi, shounen ai, yuri, shoujo, josei
The genre I release filtered
I avoid genderbender, harem, and any sexual or romantic ones in general to cover the basics. I usually filter out a lot more depending on my mood and what kind of novel I am looking for.
I try to or tend to avoid romance based tags and yuri/yaoi and look for fantasy based tags like dragons, elves, magic and modern knowledge.
I look for cold Mc,strong from the start
Game elements and time travel is probably the ones I avoid the most.
I exclude slice of life
