    *pat pat*

It's easy to confuse idioms, quotes and proverbs for me too. I know, since the locals here just dump everything that sounds sage-like as proverbs....

It's not much different idioms are bunch of words that don't make any sense if read literally while proverbs make sense both literally as well as have there own meaning

Isn’t greed technically the same as selfishness?

Not necessarily. Greed is usually related to money while selfishness has a lot broader meaning. A person can be selfish but not greedy

"This is mine, yours is also mine" -Greed

"This is mine, you can't have them" -Selfish

--pretty easy to confuse them since they both involve possesiveness.

    Thank you for noticing!

Eh... Maybe pride comes before the fall. But it sounds more like a German did a shitty translation of "Hochmut kommt vor dem Fall." and I dunno if it is that much about selfishness than about false pride... But I guess they come together(?)

Aren't those other sayings about greed and pride kinda also fitting? Could a humble person be greedy? So everything that fits for those others should also be fitting for the egoist, right?

Like: picking up the rice grain to lose the chicken etc.

Google pictures suggested : be humble, you could be wrong xd

Always find these questions stupid. You don't learn anything from the usage of it. Nor will you ever re-use most of the word, you may pick up.

"Bob was a selfish man that enjoyed his life as a constructor, alone. Without anyone helping him aside from his trusty tools"
Re-write these sentences X times, where each re-written sentences uses another word to describe Selfish and the message, doesn't change.

Something along that line of question, teaches a person more. Because they have to apply the knowledge, they Find.

Someone may have said those exact words somewhere, but fuck it. I'm claiming it for myself. (selfishness)
