That's the way it works in the paper novel industry as well. And like in that industry, a webnovelist who is interested in being more creative will still find opportunities to do so. Also note that only the most popular webnovelists make any money on their writing. The rest only make peanuts and they'd be farther ahead if they decided to flip burgers instead. Realistically, the vast majority write because they want to; just like amateur writers everywhere.

Moreover, there's no money in writing on Narou unless you hit it big and yet it has some of the weakest writing and some of the least creative books. The funny thing is that one of the best books on Narou is one where the writer rejected the idea of making money on her book but still produced good material for years.
