Actually it has two major flaws that made it not appeal to Jump readers.

The first one is the lack of multiple romantic interest. Japanese boys like the idea of a harem. The protagonist of Kano Yasuhiro's mangas don't have harems, so there wasn't anything that interest them. In Pretty Face, the protagonist was devoted to the one girl who has the same face as him. In Mx0, the protagonist is devoted to that one girl who is the daughter of the teacher. It's probably Kano Yasuhiro's own fault for selling his rights to the magazine with the wrong audience. Jump readers are generally immature brats who like exciting action and pretty girl harems. Mx0 had neither. It does have action, but it's more tactical and smart in nature instead of punch everything in the way with the power of nakama (friendship, not the clothing). For example, for mature love comedy, mangakas go to Margaret, such as the manga Usotsuki Lily. For yuri mangas, they go to Yuri Hime Wildrose. There are also other smaller publications that could've allowed Mx0 to continue, but unfortunately they paid peanuts compared to Jump.

Kano Yasuhiro has now learned from his mistakes and released Kiss x Death. 4 possible choices now, though my favourite is Yuni.

The second one is the lack of swords. That's right, swords. It doesn't matter what sword. It can be long sword, rapier, katana or even a sabre. There just have to be a sword. They do not have even a single sword in the whole manga. Even a naginata or a dagger would've been able to mitigate the problem, but there wasn't even a single one. So Jump gave them the axe lol

The third one is Jump reader base itself. They have specific interests. They like quick release and repeated teases. So mangas like Bleach, Corpse Party, Detective Conan and One Piece would've thrived there. Mx0 is simply too nice to us readers to belong in Jump. Kano Yasuhiro has learned from his mistakes with Kiss x Death, though. Some of us may not like Kiss x Death, but that's what Jump readers want.

Pretty much. When you read enough manga and know those formula, within a few chapter of a new manga, you can easily to tell which new manga will be popular in japan and become mainstream anime.

authors kagami no kuni was good too
@Ai chan ahh I totally forgot about death kiss I wanted to read it but it didn't have enough chapters at that time and forgot about this author, Mx0 was fanatastic but the timing was a bit wrong as ppl were comparing it with harry potter a lot and calling it a copy and as there were lots of other mamgas coming out for magic school it got dissed by the Japanese population a lot . too bad jump has really low sales outside of Japan, it could've been a really good webcomic if the author released it now, but too bad.
