I have a guy here who is insistent that the following sentence:

is a 'suggestion', not a 'demand'.

A group translated a chapter that another group had done previously, as the group that had already done the chapter was focused on speed over quality and the group redoing the chapter is just doing each one sequentially rather than just jumping to the "latest chapter".

The person in question "shii" made that post in the comments for that chapter directed at the translator.

Since he calls you "retarded fucks" it's an insulting command, much like how a boss would abuse their workers.

Further proof: There'ren't any soft words here like "suggest" or "Why don't..." or "do you agree".

 

its a demand...the moment he used abusive language it became a demand....suggestion would be laying out 2 or 3 options and let the receiver choose from those options....but since it only has one option and he is also using abusive language it became a demand or more specifically an ORDER

 

Actually it can be called a suggestion until the word "chapters" then when you read on, Its now a demand cuz of the words, "you retarded fucks".

tbh it is a suggestion, just that the insult makes it seem more like a demand
just think of the sentence "Actually devote your time to doing recent chapters you nice and lovely person"
there is no exclamation mark nor any other completely clear indication that it is a demand, though it is on the border between demands and suggestions

I'd say it's a very strong 'order' by someone who thinks he's better than you. But if you keep skipping chapters, maybe he got a point. I don't know. I don't even know what titles you translate.

 

I would say it was more of a demanding if the person had given a reason why you should devote your time to recent chapters it would become more of a suggestion except for the insult

 

it all depends on the context though. Idk if it is just this sentence standing alone or not, but standing alone like that it is a demanding suggestion that can be picked up both ways, imo

First off, I lack the context or the full sentence as this seems like a fragment. So Nazi is fired up.
The comma is also missing, so this is less than a fragment.

Quite simply put, this is either a terrible suggestion or an excellent command.

The insulting tone suggests it is a terrible suggestion, but the sheer insensibility points towards a command.

It sounded commanding because first, there was no 'please' and second, he was being rude.

 

It's a demand, not a suggestion. Guy is wanting to order you to do that, not suggest something.
