I see...I haven't seen the tv series. The are several movies and tv adaptations of the book. Most of them are not faithful to the books, though. The books are actually pretty scary

 

I think the TV series was pretty good. Not outright scary but kinda scary in the way it brings chill up my spine-

Old thread but I found a blog that's working on translating the Vietnamese fan translations to English for those who can't read Chinese

 

Oh, where? I was going to get the english version off bookdepository but so many people said the translation was horrible and really awkward. How is the quality of the vietnamese translation?

Else I might have to painfully plough through the raw myself

Also does anyone know if the sequels are complete? i.e. 藏海花 and 沙海

 

Have you found where we can read the book 7-9 in english? any idea?

Does anyone have any news about this series? I've been so sad since the English Volume 6 came out and we didn't get anymore translations after that. I wonder what happened? I've e-mailed that translation company at least twice and did not get a response so I'm guessing they dropped it for whatever reason. If that's so then, would there be complications for people to pick it up for translation?

I really hope that someone can finish translating this wonderful story. It's so unfortunate that this was translated before the webnovel translation boom and now barely anyone in the west knows about it ;~; such a shame! I always see beautiful artwork of all the interesting characters that show up later and I know nothing about them because I haven't/can't read anything past V6!

 

Where did you see this? I can't find anything about that translation

I also can't find information about the English translation of volumes 7-9. I emailed the publishing company ThingsAsianPress and they haven't responded. I have contacted them before before volumes 5 & 6 were released and they responded. I wonder if they are completely avoiding anything daomu biji or if they are no longer in service.

 

I know a translator that has been in contact with Kathy Mok (the english translator for the series) and she's said that as of now there are no plans for future translations

 

Hi all!!! I posted this on a different discussion board but came across this one not long ago. This is probably too little too late but I got hooked and decided to try translating the rest of the books after the english translations stopped at vol 6 (tomb of the queen). I know it doesn't do the original novels justice, and I can't promise it's a great translation (it's definitely not the worst if I do say so myself), but I figured I'd try. If you know anybody else that's already doing this, I can totally stop but I wasn't finding anything. I'm posting the chapters here:
