Yeah, to some extent that is true. Although you're likely to see those kinds of political associations more in European or Commonwealth countries rather than the U.S.A., because of the history of the Cold War between capitalism and communism. I think the U.S. version of the extreme-left tends to be focused around social injustices and equality (radical feminists, gay rights, racial minority representation) rather than economic injustice and equality (communal ownership of production and socialist redistribution of wealth), At least not since the hippie movement died out. But certainly in many European countries, leftist political parties tend towards democratic socialism.

EDIT: Oddly enough, I find that the mainstream liberals and conservatives in the U.S. are the ones that actually worry about the economy and the direction it should take. The alt-left and alt-right just want to change society.

Why can't we just use the same labels everywhere? We've had left (person-controlled) and right (government controlled) for a long time now. Why do we have to take labels from an alternate dimension to label people now. We should instead label each other as top and bottom. Ai-chan prefers to be the bottom, though sometimes, Ai-chan is the top.

 

I think the main thing is that NUF is a more international community so it's hard to pin it down using just America-centric politics. The average user from Indonesia or Malaysia is likely going to skew "right" compared to American users if placed in the lens of American social beliefs, but would probably be considered quite liberal in regards to their home country, if only because they're on the younger side. Oddly enough, in the analysis of my NUF survey I noticed the possibility that European users might be even farther right than American users on certain social issues but far left on others.

Basically, the internet makes everyone libertarian.

Communism is pretty dead in the US, but after Bernie Sanders socialism has been quickly moving more mainstream.

Perhaps the real problem is that "mainstream" is slowly becoming more extreme and divided, so what's considered a "normal" political view is becoming absurdly left or right compared to what it was a few decades ago. This probably started with Reagan and Newt Gingrich transforming the Republican Party around an ideology (conservative Christians, basically) to which the Democrats responded by bringing in their own identity politics.

 

Meh i had enough people immediately put some label to someone else for a honest opinion or sound argument. Right is right left is left what's the connection of them to the political shit ? Oh because somebody just had to label them in opposite each other ? Why not using something 'cuter' like onions and garlic or ball gag and but plug ? Meh.

 

And I just realized I found yet another reason not to go to USA.
