    What if a translator posts a chapter and says that it is an April Fool chapter but actually it is not.

    It's fine to have fun but I've run into a translator or two who actually just left the april fools chapter up forever and didn't put a disclaimer or anything. So if you were bing reading like me you run into this chapter and are VERY VERY confused. Which IMO is when you go from harmless fun to just being a lazy asshole.

    If it's not April 1st I won't think to be a sceptic about a chapter. So acting like I should just know it's a prank chapter when I'm bing reading is stupid. Again it's fine the day of but the aprils fools chapter needs to either be removed or given a disclaimer at the top in order to avoid confusion after the date.

    What happens if a chapter is erroneously removed?

    The translator for Someday Will I Be The Greatest Alchemist posted a joke chapter and a real chapter at the same time. You'll only see the joke chapter if you don't follow the instructions, but it looks like the link (chapter 102) was taken down anyway.

    After years of translating, I’ve learned it’s better to avoid joke chapters and just do joke events.

    Everyone! Come and play my joke visual novel release tomorrow! It's based on my translation project and full of words to read, so it's technically an "April Fools (novel) release," hahaha!

    To me, the most annoying April Fool ppst was that fake Overlord volume 10 on Skythewood. All I can say is I'm so glad I checked the comments first before I read it.

    There are ways to do legit trolls too. Back when I was scanlating Iris Zero, I made a troll chapter with the actual link in it. Good times.

    It's fun-------ny. But it ain't funny when you're binge reading lol. Which I did last year and experienced a lot of April Fools chapter within a day. The cliffhanger. Lolol.
