Question are most of the "groups" on WN doing edited MTL?

honestly i dont know if they are really doing MTL but i just did a google translate on some chapters of the novels i read cus cliff....

and i went "hey, google translate is really good!"
a few hours later, im like "umm.is google translate really that good or are the translations just bad?"

 

Just that bad.
Remember they releasing 2 new novels every single week. Doubt they getting enough actual tler to keep up the rate

 

Few groups do good translation from what I've noticed.
Many take the route of [Copy and paste into GT, edit, 'I've translated it!'].
What's worse is that a few actually say "Will you fund me? I'll translate it more!" ... While having Google translate be their source of "Translation"

 

1% does good translation, 9% mtls, 90% complains

 

Pfft. We don't need editors for machine translations. The age of robots is upon us!

A bit of both most likely, google translate does a good enough job of telling you what the words mean, just insert all the grammar and nuisance yourself

Yes, what would a fic be without nuisance, I always like them annoying.

Most high release rate TLs seem to be MTL, some use multiple machines next to eachother to establish their baseline before editing, others simply use Google TL. But, many a high release rate story is like junkfood, heavily processed until it becomes something in a recognisable food shape.

 

they're getting paid so much money too....

 

at this point, you really dont know if they are doing edited mtl or HTL anymore.

for their translated novels, WN hires so many proofreaders and editors and pay them so much money they it is edited into something much more readable.

for example castle of black iron has around 6 editors or so and 3 proofreaders IIRC and yet there are still errors here and there.
if it was HTL, these errors wouldn't be there unless the translator is translating word by word which makes it no different from an mtl, but lets be honest, almost no translator would work this way because people who are bilingual would read the entire sentence and then write them out in english (or at least most will)
