The primary reason is environment, especially in the relatively recent us and current russia, the public response has been negative and you learn and mimic those social responses. Lesbianism barely got addressed, but being gay has been a repeated source of insult. Identified as a negative character traits in TV/movies for a LONG time. So most the reason is likely just you being raised(mostly by tv like most modern people) with content that spins being a homosexual male as a negative.
Most of them don't start off as two dudes doing each other, only the porn without plot ones for the most part lolol.
I'm fine with the genre but please don't imply that the "porn without a plot" isn't the majority. Every time I found one with a semi-interesting plot line it turned into barely disguised mindbreak/abuse within the first 10 chaps.
I had one I kinda liked but their relationship ended up forming out of pretty much Stockholm syndrome with a touch of brainwashing. So that took a bit away from it.
Hmm, though I will admit a lot of Chinese novels tend to have that, if you look at the horror genre, it tends to not do that heheh
True, it's just annoying how I see more Yaoi translated then actual normal romance novels. I just filter that shizz out. You should do that too so you wont have to see it again on the front page. Honestly there was nothing to read that I've felt desperate enough to read it but good thing I beated such temptations lol. You have a funny friend lol
Horror isn't my favorite genre, and after trial and error neither is yaoi, but maybe I'll give the combo a second try since the first one flopped into the same, albeit more tame, rape is ok cuz I'm hot tropes
Maybe I've read so many that I've forgotten the signs ufu I would recommend some but I don't think that's the purpose of the thread hehe
Lmao, I still find yaoi to be top-tier trash. But for me it had less to do with it being about gays then it did fujoshi's and the market flooding to cater to them. In the past it was unusual, but I didn't care for when stuff like Back Butler and Loveless came about... Hell, I even watched them and Free. So my strong dislike for it stems not even from me being heterosexual af, but from the content the fans craved. Such as rape, male pregnancy, the whole uke seme garbage that is LITERALLY based on one person being dominate in the relationship and the other basically a slave, etc. Yaoi essentially took the WORST things otaku culture has done over the past decades and threw it all on guys, and the fans (females) justify that shit like no tomorrow. Now, OBVIOUSLY, there are decent, even by my opinion yaoi/shounen-ai stories out there, I'm not saying there isn't. I'm just saying I can't count how many times I've seen these people bitch about rape/misogyny/dominate male leads in novels but immediately turn around and find that shit cute as long as it's with two dudes.
It's not that complicated. If you're not attracted to men, there's no reason you'd be into yaoi. It's that simple.
A lot of yaoi, and yuri to go even further, seems to be the fetishization of same-sex relationships. Much as there is the hot garbage of ecchi harems for comparison. I've read some good, decent same-sex couple romance novels. But 90% of the stuff out there is just fan service and bad writing. I just don't like how fetishized things get.
I don't search for it. The reason I can think about your situation is that you don't enjoy it? I talked with some friends about it, dudes see porn so yeah, when they see porn of a male and female it ussually just show the female so that the men that are seeing the porn maybe be able to think that he is the male in the porn. In a Lesbian porn as a dude you would think about you finding two sexy girls going at it. While at a gay porn your brain, because of the two others porn type imagination, would make your unconscious put you in that situation. At least that is what I think I have 3 friends that are bisexual, they go more for the same genre as they but still, and they are ones of my true friends.
i like some yaoi when it feels fresher than the cute girl thing. but then, theres some yaoi that are just as bland, with nothing more to offer than dominating bad boy wolf controlling the wimpy nice guy sheep.
Not my thing ... but it was hilarious on South Park. Supposedly the episode came about because Matt Stone and Trey Parker discovered there was a whole community of yaoi fan-fiction on South Park characters
That really bad idea, it nightmare. Also i don't really like Yuri too. It make Gender bender tag (male to female) rarely have straight relationship, i really like when mc or character strugle with her current gender expecially in love departement and accepting his current gender. In natural way of course since transexual usually already ready for his change of gender. Magic also fine though, like demon king bride.
Kinda weird Im fine with gay relationships and stuff irl but I wouldn't touch a yaoi novel with a 10 ft pole
