Ascendance of a Bookworm is one of those stories that I find strikes way too true to my personal interests. If I was stuck in another world without any form of entertainment, making books for myself would be my first priority. That, and I'd probably be PK'd the second day I was there so too bad for that reincarnation.
Hmmmmm... Maine just got 6 gold coins out of this deal... I wonder what would Lutz's reaction be if he heard of the total amount. Though more than that, I'm curious on what will they start making now that they are pretty much done with the paper-making! ... And when will Maine learn magic of course, she needs to deal with the devouring after all! >.<
Poor Maine's shoulders! >.< Hmmmmm, I wonder how much did the parchment and ink cost... IIRC, ink costed 1 month of her father's wage, but I don't think her father earns silver... Still a really big amount though... And I understand Benno getting angry, he is totally right on that, but Maine does need to know more about the devouring!!!! >.<
This bait title!!!!!!!! I was sure she was making a contract to work with Freida on the Nobles' district or something, so as to receive magical tools to hold the devouring down! >.< Still, nice to know she has been making proper deals this time... Go on Maine! Keep on learning and doing your best! \(^^)/
OMG Lutz, you ladykiller!!!!!!! >.< He really knows how to get a girl's heart~ On the other hand... I can't even imagine how big of a scolding will she receive when she meets Benno... She was really way too conspicuous with her outfit/hairpin and being carried like a princess... I wonder if some people thought she was a noble~
i think some nobles will become interested to her after seeing her in the parade, and it will bring trouble to both maine and benno..
Exactly what I think~ She really was too conspicuous after all... Poor Benno will have a heart attack because of Maine one of these days~
Well... This was unexpected. Interesting that they have such a horrible myth for the creation of life I guess? I mean, as far as I remember, most of those horrible myths tend to be a one off thing, but this one is a cycle of horribleness through eternity... *shivers* I wonder why the author made Maine pass out for laughing though... Maybe they didn't want her to see what was going to come next? *is curious*
Maine, how could you not relate that pose to the Ginyu Force? It came to mind as soon as I heard the discription.
Oh maine,, what have you done.. benno will kill you after this ceremony,, you've never learn that old grandpa's are all super cunning and will do everything to snare you.. sad Maine..
Benno really will want her head after this... But... This is the best connection she would have ever been able to get, Benno can't even compare to it. Like, really, the church seems to use Magical Tools for very... Unnecessary things. And she is joining not by talking to a priest, but directly to the head... This is huge. This is her door to survival, Maine just won on the lottery here! Go go Maine! Do your best to become a nun! \(^^)/
That came out of nowhere. Seems like a shortcut to reading books but could become a hassle for Maine.
Spoiler: From RAWs To be honest its really troublesome to Maine and especially her parents. I know because ive read the raws just now via google translate and i need to sleep off the headache
Hmmmmmmmm... I think it was a good way to find a proper job for Maine, and give her a way to survive. While it did come out of nowhere, the fact is that we did know nothing about the temple, and so did Maine. As such... It doesn't seem out of place to me.
though a temple is the place to learn magic (in typical hi-fantasy setting) it doesn't necessary mean that everyone would have equal right/opportunity to learn. do hope that she'll be accepted & able to learn some to fight off her devouring.
She made another error, proposing a sum without knowing what the other expected. She should have asked "what do you think would be a good sum for me to became part of the temple?" instead of saying she can get 1 big gold coin. She still needs to learn a lot of things... And be scolded big time...
I think temples teach nothing about magic tbh, they teach about prayers to the gods and the like instead. Temples have direct contact with nobles though, so she could learn from magic through those connections. Well, while I do agree she should have asked back, she was asked first... So, it could become a game of who makes the first call... With them asking back and forth for a bit. And considering she was the one that needed them, she would be forced to make the first offer anyway.
Hmm. Interesting developments. Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Hopefully a good thing, longer term...
Its getting good to be honest. Spoiler Its spoilery but that chalice is the key to Maine's problem. IF ONLY BLASTRON RELEASES FASTER THOUGH.
