I'm writing a web novel and was worried if people would take it as a ero novel and not as a normal novel as there's two h-scenes within the first 5 chapters and they're somewhat necassary for the story. all together the scenes take up around one page in the five chapters and each chapter is around 8 to 9 pages long. Please give advice

If it has at least 1 h-scene, it becomes an ero-novel.

If you hand-wave that scene by making a quick description instead of fully describing what goes where, then it's just a novel for adults.

You can have multiple scenes of this type as well and still prevent the NC-17 rating. continue saying that it happened, don't explain how it happened. As long as you gloss over it, the readers will get the impression that the MC is randy but not that the story is utter smut.

The main difference between ero novels and non-ero novels is the plot and ero descriptions.

Basically, non-ero novels might have the characters make dozens of children, but over a long period of time, and no actual descriptions of the procreation.

While it can become an ero novel just by making 1-2 children in ... 2 years, and with vivid descriptions of how it's done.

Basically, if it describes the ero, it's ero, if not, then usually not.

Hmm it doesn't sound as if it's too much as long as you don't go into too much details.
And if they are necessary for the story it shouldn't matter that much as long you don't have too many details and h-scenes after these 5 chapters
personally i think that h-scenes in stories are fine as long as they are necessary for plot progress

sure, if you fill a chapter with descriptions of a h scene it will be ''ero'', but i wouldnt call it an ero novel. Look at it like this, if you need ero to further the plot, its a normal novel with some h elements, and if you need plot to further the ero, its an ero novel. Readers love h scenes, and depending on the novel and theme of the story, it can help spice it up, just dont make it seem like something you would read when doing the dirty

It depends on how long the novel is and if it has a plot that focuses on things that are not ero, for me if there are like 300 chaps with 1 h-scene I personally wouldn't call it an ero novel.

I feel like you're severely underestimating the range and scope of what I find fappable...

IMO A novel with explicit (on screen) sex in it is simply adult, or mature. A novel is not an erotic novel unless the sex is literally the whole point of the novel. ... of course, if you thoroughly and vividly describe the sex... well...

That's right. Ero novels would be stories that are classified as erotica, and erotica isn't just about a few sex scenes in a book. Erotica is when a book's primary purpose is to titillate via graphic depictions of sexual activity. You can have relatively explicit sex scenes without being qualified as erotica as long as your book is about something else.

    As Westeller and ToastedRossi said.

There's this quote about musicals vs. operas that apply here: a musical is a story that has songs in it, an opera is a bunch of songs with some story in it.
Likewise, a "mature" novel could be said to be a story with some sexual titillation in it, and an erotica is sexual titillation with some story in it. Does the sex support the story, or does the story support the sex? That's the difference.

It's only H when it's too descriptive of the sex acts. Make it ambiguous, so even if they do it like rabbits every chapter it won't be considered an H. Come on, who would be so perverted to think that "and they spent the night together" counts as sex.

If you actually need to describe the h-scenes for plot purposes and can't just say they happened, you might have an ero-novel.
