Discussion Awakening is Racist? RANT

After reading this novel I felt the author was more racist than The God and devil world author... Especially the way he depicts japan as one of the most dangerous countries for a woman to live. Like every beautiful woman is sought after as a rape target....And how unrealistic the college fights especially in Tokyo university since this school is made up of smart people, who doesn't fight with fists rather with a mouth. And I find it hypocritical for a Chinese person to complain to japan for changing the history in textbook, since what do you expect from a propaganda filled country China, where they block Facebook and google to access the online world..And many textbooks in China has exaggerated the rape victim numbers done by Japanese in World war 2.....History class in Japan has two different courses one is for History in Japan and another for History of the world... I feel pissed off when the author showed the history professors as some kind of a biased freak... the thing they teach in Tokyo university come from the perspectives of many, and not overly biased by Japanese thoughts...Japanese culture teaches us, people, to be modest and not overbearing making most of the Japanese citizens rather reserved. I know I'm being slightly biased but I can't stand the Chinese novel representing Japan as a Sex driven country.

As long as the racist views on Japan are removed from the story than it becomes 100x better.

I just ignore things like racism in novels because if the novel is interesting, its interesting.

But yeah, I still agree with your points.

It's not actually the fault of the author but their government... the education system is controlled by the red government which makes it all biased... and the people swallow it up as the truth...

Does it really depict Japan as such a sex-driven country? I thought in the first 50 chapters all it said about Japan was about how hard working the japanese people are and how such pressure leads to their odd entertainment industry along with some fucked up porn.

 

It's still an interesting and entertaining novel. Just saying.

 

I think the main thing women wise is it's recent chapters. Like the one posted earlier.

During the war, Japanese Imperial Army does captured women(not only chinese... almost from every other races in the country they conquered) to become sex slaves for their soldier... well even Roman does that.... woman as a prize for motivation toward the soldier..
But what author said quite true... most japs still having their victor mentality despite what they do toward other asian people( not only chinese)...

history is important, but that doesn't make it ok to condemn the current generation for things that happened in the past, thats blatant ignorance. I haven't read the latest ch, but the one before wasn't that bad, the part where he told the history teacher to stop teaching lies that is, although it would be nice if the chinese would sometimes go into the shit they've done instead of just mindlessly hate japanese lol

I'm agree with @criticalmind , the POV of history is different between the other nations.

 

One second Japan isn't dangerous? Are you saying all the movies, and shows I watched are lying? I thought with all the monsters, and trucks japan would be dangerous.

 

What Chinese novel isn't biased to Chinese? What Japanese novel isn't biased to Japanese? And what Korean novel isn't biased to Koreans? Lol you do have some solid points that I agree with but at the end this is how nearly all these novels are like.. If you can't block out the bias stuff then you can't enjoy the rest of the story imho..

 

Oh well I'm not up to date cause it's a back up novel for me. Oh well!

 

Ohh no an author is racist run for the hills..... Actually no man, most of the novels we read here are Web Novels which the authors usually make for small audiences, they can't be really expecting us to read them so they pour their own beliefs into it, you don't usually see this on novels from Qidian because they are a bit more selective but a lot of Chinese novels being translated here aren't from there so the authors aren't quite as restrained. The fact that a some Chinese authors depict Japanese in a negative manner is due to the fact that the Japanese where dickwads to the locals when they were in the place. In fact it seems many people who read novels have an idealized view of japan which they have developed to the point where they are wapanese, regardless that is outside the point in the end if the author is racist towards the Japanese in their novels is their own business maybe in person he doesn't feel that way about the Japanese and only depicts them in that manner in novels to get more sympathetic views from his actual audience, the Chinese. That't my take on the thing anyways.
