Discussion Baked beans with rice, yay or nay?

So.. my cupboard is pretty barren right now with only some baked beans and rice, looked online and it said you can totally mix the two.

Any of you guys tried it before?

 

I've had something similar before and it's not bad.

Not sure what sets that apart from my burrito filling, but what I'm picturing tastes good to me

 

I thought it was an obvious thing to do? I prefer refried beans and rice personally. I like to wrap them together in a tortilla. My brother likes mixing rice into the baked beans, using the juices to season the rice. Only reason I'm not a fan is because I don't like lentils much.

 

Tastes good, but you'll fart a lot.

 

I'm one of those weird people that doesn't get gas when eating beans but if I touch anything chocolate it's gas city D:

 

Baked beans as in the ones in bbq sauce? I wouldn't mix them if so, unless your eating it with some bbq.

 

Fry the beans and add some frying mix or simply add salt.

Its good with just baked beans and rice but it tastes better after frying.

 

Depending on what spices you have available it can be quite tasty. I'd recommend making it Louisiana style.

yes, you can. I cook them all the time. If you do it right, it tastes quite good

 

Yay, had something similar it wasn't bad but I enjoyed eating just plain rice more~

 

There this cajun place that serves a rice and beans side that’s so satisfying. It’s like a great meal all by it self. When you add the chicken it so worth driving two hours for.

 

The struggle is strong in this one. I once blew my food budget and had to survive on macaroni, ketchup and crackers for 2 weeks. I now keep my freezer and pantry stocked so that will never happen again.

 

Pro tip: go visit your parents right before dinnertime

I add fresh chopped onions on top of the beans and rice, Red Onions are even better.

Do that and you are good. I eat it often, and make it for my family often as a snack.

If you have sage/cilantro (even if its dried and chopped in a spice bottle) add it on top after everything (this is the ultimate final kick that gives a complete feeling)

How ever what you have should work. if somewhere else you have like chips or crackers crush them and add em on top ... it will work as a good cheap contrast in texture too and feel more satisfied when eating it in both a psychological and flavor sense
