Wrong. All the areas are hand-painted canvases. The story is kind of weak but who gives a fuck. There's Misc and Boo. The AD&D gameplay is actually fantastic. Easily allowing beginners to still enjoy the game and experts to min-max like a fucking boss. The length of the game is good and the depth of tricks/cheese in the game keeps every run fresh. There's a shitton of mods to mix it up if desired.

BG2: SoA (and somewhat ToB) is the best RPG hands down. At worst it is equal to any other RPG, but never worse.

There's a fuckton of flaws to it but who cares. No game is perfect. BG2 can be played any way and will always be a classic timeless masterpiece.

They remaster the Xbox original version and then I would consider buying such a old game.

I was honestly not too impressed with the Enhanced Edition. It didn't really do anything mods hadn't already done years before...

As someone who has thought about trying baldur's gate, incewind dale, planescape torment and a couple other ones, the UI just sucks real bad and it's too clunky. AI pathing and such also doesn't really work.

The actual character build customization (class, skills, etc, not visually) is great and sorely missed in newer games, but it's just so old I can't bring myself to play any of them.

The only game I really managed to play for a while and feeling how I really have missed out was Neverwinter Nights 1, but in the end I was looking for mods to make it at least palpable but unfortunately there really isn't anything.

Honestly I could stand the graphics, but the animations were just so awful I couldn't stand playing it. And this is coming from someone who play on a potato PC and generally don't care about graphics or FPS.

I remember Baldur's Gate 2, man I sucked at that game, if your sense of direction is as bad as mine you lose party members all the time lol.
