I wanna play but I'll be so dead~ can I be an observer of sorts~?
Welcome to the Battleship Dueling Tournament!
We will now be beginning the Group Stage of the Tournament!
There are three groups (A, B, and C), and only the two best players from each group advance to the next stage.
Here are the match ups:
For Round 1:
@DRECK vs. @Greater Infinity
@Alchyr vs. @henrywolf123
@Cancer vs. @brasca123
@Pythagoras Theorem vs. @March
@June vs. @fluffymigs
@a101011 vs. @platys51
You have 24 hours to PM me how you would like to place your ships on the board! This also serves as an activity check! @Little Dragon is on the wait list, and if you fail to respond within 24 hours, @Little Dragon will take your spot!
How to place ships on the board
1. Start a PM conversation with @villain only.
2. The board is a 10x10 board with coordinates A1 to J10.
3. You can pick a maximum of 5 ships to take into round one.
4. You can place ships horizontally or vertically but not diagonally.
5. Obviously none of your ships can overlap.
Good luck and thanks for playing!
Note, because we're playing with 12 players, some changes to the rules have been made on the first post. Feel free to read if you're board:
In a 12 player tournament, the elimination stage will start with 6 players. This means two players get to skip the first round.
The two players that get to skip the first round will be the "highest seeded" players -- in other words, the two players that have the highest aggregate number of points during the group stage. They will get 4 ships as reinforcements when they start the elimination stage. Everyone else will get 6 ships as reinforcements.
Details on how Group Stage Tie Breaks are determined (current settings are):
1. Match wins
2. Points Scored
3. Wins vs. Tied Participants
4. Game/Set Wins (shouldn't mean anything for our tournament)
For explanations on what these mean, see this page.
They call me Mr. Steal Yo Spot!
@villain @Little Dragon
TBH you can take my spot I should be studying for midterm examinations next week
I should study right now...
Btw can ships touch?
Then next strategy: Put them all together!
Yo, I got midterms too!
I'm playing @March.... well thats probably the only win that I'll get.
So far, @DRECK and @henrywolf123 have pulled out of the game.
@Little Dragon which spot do you want?
I'll give you @henrywolf123 's slot then (since @Alchyr has already signed in)!
Remember to PM me your ship placements!
Spectator Betting System
As this game is operated by the Casino, obviously we have a betting system in place.
At any time, any spectator (or participant) can purchase a betting ticket. You can purchase as many as you like by paying @villain.
The price of one ticket will vary at the stage we are in the tournament:
Group Stage Price: $10
Elimination Stage Round 1 Price: $20
Elimination Stage Round 2 Price: $40
Elimination Stage Semifinals Price: $80
Elimination Stage Finals Price: $160
A betting ticket represents a share of the jackpot if your candidate wins.
1 ticket = 1 share.
For example, if the jackpot is $500, and 5 tickets have been bought for @iampsyx (the winner), then each ticket is worth $100.
Jackpot Pool: $160
Jackpots will increase as tickets are purchased!
Summoning @Ishmael maybe @ASadLinguist if they're interested in taking @DRECK's spot?
@Cancer has defeated @brasca123 26-24!
The details??! Well, you'll need to use other means to figure out what ships were played and what was sunk! That's all very valuable intel!
Feel free to gossip, speculate, and do whatever you like in this thread! \o/
I swear I took only a 5 spaces class ship and it was killed in a single shot volley...
Does this mean we can spam for nuffies?
@Ishmael has joined the tournament and taken @DRECK's spot!
@Ishmael will be playing against @Greater Infinity for the first round!
Sure >:3 But try to stay vaguely on topic!
((Spamming the community games is definitely not the only way the casino makes money...))
